Robert Kirkman-created animated superhero saga Invincible is expanding, and its creator has now hinted that the story may expand far beyond the core series. As the show prepares for its fourth season on Prime Video, discussions around the future of the franchise have resurfaced, particularly regarding potential spin-offs set within the same universe.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, the world surrounding Mark Grayson already holds dozens of compelling characters and untold histories. Creator Robert Kirkman recently addressed the possibility of additional projects and explained why the franchise has not yet moved forward with them. His comments suggest that the universe still has plenty of stories waiting to be explored once the main series finds the right moment to branch out.
Robert Kirkman Shares Details On ‘Invincible’ Universe Expansion

During a conversation with The Direct while promoting Invincible Season 4, Robert Kirkman acknowledged that expanding the franchise with spin-off series remains an exciting idea for the creative team. The show’s universe, which mirrors the large scope of the original comics, offers numerous directions for storytelling beyond the main narrative.
When asked whether discussions had taken place about further spin-off projects after the Atom Eve special released in 2023, Kirkman shared that there is a strong interest, even though the team’s focus remains on delivering the primary series consistently.
“I mean, right now, we would certainly love to do more. There’s an expansive, vast world within Invincible but right now, we’re focused on getting the show out on a yearly basis and, again, just managing the enormity of this series is so daunting… It’s definitely keeping us busy.”
The special episode centred on Atom Eve was originally designed to fill the long gap between the first two seasons. It explored the tragic origins of Samantha Eve Wilkins and revealed the truth about her extraordinary powers.
Robert Kirkman Says There’s A Lot To Explore In The ‘Invincible’ Universe
Kirkman explained that the production team has since prioritised maintaining a steady release schedule for the main series. Still, he acknowledged that the universe holds many unexplored narratives.
“So, you know, that special was something that was done to kind of mitigate the time passing between Season 1 and Season 2 to get something out there in advance to try to win the audience back after such a long gap that we were… regrettable, but nothing we could do about it. And so, since we haven’t had that gap, we just haven’t had the time, really. But you know, as time goes on, there’s certainly corners of this universe that we would love to explore more, and so, who knows what the future holds?”
For now, the team is committed to advancing the central storyline involving Mark Grayson, Atom Eve, and the looming conflict with the Viltrum Empire.
What Are The Possible Spinoffs Prime Video May Greenlight In The ‘Invincible’ Universe

Even without official announcements, the Invincible universe already provides strong foundations for several spin-off stories. The original comic series expanded through multiple companion titles such as Atom Eve & Rex Splode, The Pact, Brit, and Guarding the Globe. Each explored different corners of the superhero world that existed alongside Mark’s journey.
In April 2025, Kirkman introduced a Battle Beast spin-off series that follows the warrior’s adventures between his appearances in the main storyline. The character gained a massive following after his brief but memorable appearances in the animated adaptation.
Another strong candidate would focus on the Guardians of the Globe. A spin-off built around Rex Splode could also offer a different tone. The universe could also explore characters such as Allen the Alien or the Coalition of Planets.
