Glen Powell is among the new generation actors who would not shy away from an engrossing s-x scene in a cinematic project. The actor previously appeared in Anyone but You alongside Sydney Sweeney and the movie was a massive hit but the romance comedy was also one of the raunchy movies of 2023. Following the box office marvel of Anyone but You, Powell joined Andor star Adria Arjona to share another stunning chemistry in Richard Linklater’s latest action comedy Hit Man.
Glen Powell Addressed Movies Becoming So S-xless
Glen Powell thinks that movies are becoming s-xless. CineTitBit.Com previously featured an article detailing why s–x in movies is decreasing. In his recent interview with Letterboxd, the actor addressed the same issue that has caught the attention of devout moviegoers. “S–x in movies is a very interesting subject,” Powell said of s–x in movies.
Powell plays Gary Johnson in the Richard Linklater-directed action comedy where he shares a few raunchy scenes with Adria Arjona’s Maddy Masters. Powell added, “because I feel like movies are so sexless these days you know?”
The actor further addressed the s–x scenes in his new movie Hit Man, “and those scenes have been done so many different ways,” he added. “We were really and it was such a crucial element you really have to have Gary Johnson get thrust into a journey you know? And fall for someone so hard that he makes every illogical decision the most logical guy makes every logical decision. So the s–x of this movie plays a real important Catalyst to waking up and finding himself in circumstances that he couldn’t have even imagined.”
Interestingly, the chemistry between Powell and Arjona in the movie was very delicate, several critics dubbed the movie and the chemistry as hot and of course, it worked in favor of the movie.
Glen Powell Commented On His Chemistry With Adria Arjona
Powell revealed that Arjona perfectly fits the description of the character as they have written the movie. “I think one of the interesting things as we were writing it knowing that we were going to have to cast this thing which is we almost wrote an impossible character to cast,” Powell told Letterboxd about Arjona’s character. For context, Powell co-wrote the movie with Linklater and Skip Hollandsworth who also collaborated with Linklater in his 2011 Jack Black starrer Bernie.
The actor added that it’s such a hard thing “when you sit there and you go this actress has to be abs absolutely everything you have to be willing to make completely change your life and your personality and divorce yourself from every piece of logic that is that that defines you you know you immediately the audience has to get it.”
The Top Gun: Maverick star also revealed that Arjona’s character had to be like Jennifer Lopez’s Karen Sisco in Steven Soderbergh’s 1998 thriller comedy Out of Sight. “You just have it just has to be instantaneous and sitting down with Adria you know?”
Also, Arjona was the one “who really took all those romantic scenes and really took them to a whole new level,” Powell said of his co-star. “You know, she was the one who’s like oh no we need to take it further and we’re just like okay,” he added.
As as far the question of comfortability is concerned, Powell said, Linklater’s direction was “empowering” which made the s–x scenes comfortable to film.
Hit Man is exclusively streaming on Netflix.
