Apple Martin has stepped forward to shut down claims that she was expelled from school for bullying. The 21-year-old student, and daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, addressed the rumour directly on Instagram after it gained traction online. In a brief but pointed message, she denied the allegation and said the narrative had spiralled beyond control.
The response follows months of heightened scrutiny around Apple, particularly after viral clips from a high-profile debutante ball in Paris sparked debate about her behaviour. As social media dissected every expression and gesture, the Vanderbilt University student chose to respond in her own words.
Apple Martin Drops Instagram Clarification About Bullying Allegations

Apple Martin did not leave room for ambiguity. In a comment she later reshared to her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Hi! I didn’t wanna respond but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand.” She continued, “I have never been expelled from any school, especially not for bullying anyone.” She acknowledged public opinion without conceding to it.

“I completely understand ppl not liking me and that is okay! The internet is a place where ppl can share their opinions. But this rumor is completely untrue, I am not that type of person and anyone who is close to me knows that ❤️.”
The post was captioned, “just a quick little message from myself.” Apple did not name the source of the rumour.
What’s the Backstory Behind the Allegations?

According to multiple reports, the rumour echoes backlash from December 2024, when Apple attended Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris. Footage circulated online appearing to show her stepping into another debutante’s photo and rolling her eyes while entering the event with Count Leo Henckel von Donnersmarck. The clips fuelled accusations that she behaved like a “mean girl.”
The narrative did not hold for long among those present. Fellow debutante Aliénor Loppin de Montmort told PEOPLE, “[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever! She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting. She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs!” A source close to the family also insisted that portraying her negatively was inaccurate, describing the evening as joyful and playful.
Apple later addressed the earlier wave of criticism with humour in a TikTok video alongside friends. The trio lip-synced to a tongue-in-cheek voiceover defending their own charm.
Who is Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s Daughter, Apple Martin?

Born in 2004, Apple Martin grew up between film sets and world tours. Her parents famously announced their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014, yet they maintained a united front in raising Apple and her younger brother, Moses.
Now studying law, history and society at Vanderbilt University, Apple has begun shaping her own path. In interviews, she has admitted she once resisted following her parents into entertainment. “I was in that rebellious ‘I don’t wanna be like my parents’ type of phase,” she said. Her thinking evolved. “I love dancing and I love acting. My dream is to act.” She also ruled out music, explaining, “I don’t wanna be a singer. I like musical theater, but getting onstage by yourself to sing is so terrifying.”
She has addressed speculation about her appearance with similar candour. “Time to come clean. I got lip filler one time,” she shared, adding, “Everyone seems to think that I have crazy lip filler… I just pout my lips a lot and I put on a lot of lip liner.”
