What's Inside?

  • Sydney Sweeney filmed a cameo for 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' but does not appear in the final cut.
  • The sequel reunites Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
  • The story follows Runway’s fight for survival in a changing media landscape with high-stakes industry drama.

The buzz around Sydney Sweeney joining The Devil Wears Prada 2 sparked curiosity long before the film’s release. Set photos and early reports hinted at a brief but notable appearance. That expectation has now shifted. As sad as it may sound for the Euphoria star’s fans, her cameo will not appear in the final cut, despite being filmed during production.

The decision came down to editing choices, which reportedly do not involve controversy or other issues. Sources confirm the scene existed, was completed, and was even placed early in the film. Still, the final version moves forward without it, as the creative team focused on tightening the story and maintaining narrative flow.

Real Reason Why Sydney Sweeney’s Cameo Was Cut From ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

Sydney Sweeney did film a short scene intended to appear near the beginning of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequence introduced Emily Charlton in her elevated role within Dior’s United States division. In that moment, Sweeney appeared as herself, styled as a celebrity client, offering a quick glimpse into Emily’s high-powered world.

The scene ran for roughly three minutes. It showed Emily at work, managing a demanding client while reinforcing her authority in the fashion industry. On paper, the idea worked. In execution, it created a pacing issue.

A source told Entertainment Weekly exclusively that the removal was a “creative decision”. The sequence did not integrate smoothly into the opening stretch and disrupted the rhythm the filmmakers wanted. Editors found that the introduction played stronger without the added detour. The call was not easy. The team valued Sweeney’s involvement and appreciated her participation, yet the structure of the film took priority.

Her presence had already drawn attention months earlier. In 2025, she was spotted arriving on set in New York, prompting speculation about her role. That speculation only grew as fans connected her appearance to the returning cast. The final confirmation that she does not appear in the film closes that chapter, though interest in the project remains strong.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings back Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, now an established journalist navigating a far more complex media world. She reunites with Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly and Stanley Tucci’s Nigel Kipling as Runway faces a serious crisis.

The fashion magazine is no longer untouchable. Industry shifts and a brewing scandal threaten its future. Miranda, still commanding yet under pressure, must adapt to a landscape shaped by digital influence and shrinking print power. Andy’s return adds tension, as old dynamics resurface in a changed environment.

A key figure in this equation is Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton. She now leads Dior’s U.S. operations and controls the kind of influence Runway urgently needs. Miranda and Andy seek her support to stabilise the brand, setting up a layered reunion driven by ambition, history, and shifting loyalties.

The sequel builds on the legacy of the 2006 film while reflecting how fashion media has evolved. It explores power, reinvention, and survival in an industry that no longer plays by the same rules. With returning favourites and a slate of new faces, the film positions itself as both a continuation and a commentary on a transformed world.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to hit the theatres on May 1.
