What's Inside?
- Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras and charged with two counts of simple battery after an alleged bar altercation.
- Allegations include the use of homophobic slurs, with police confirming an ongoing investigation and a court date pending.
- Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth separated last year; the pair share a daughter and remain connected through co-parenting.
Shia LaBeouf’s name returned to headlines after a Mardi Gras arrest in New Orleans, where police charged him with two counts of simple battery following an alleged altercation outside a bar. Witnesses described erratic behaviour across several venues during the holiday weekend. Hours after his release, he posted “Free me” on X and reappeared on Bourbon Street wearing beads.
The arrest occurred during a period of personal change. LaBeouf and actor Mia Goth separated last year after more than a decade of an on-and-off relationship. They share a young daughter and have largely kept family matters private. His recent incident has put another dent in his controversy-filled life and career in Hollywood.
Shia LaBeouf’s Bar Brawl Incident

Police allege that Shia LaBeouf became aggressive after being removed from a bar in the French Quarter during Mardi Gras celebrations. According to court documents, he struck one man, left, then returned and hit him again before allegedly assaulting a second person. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries and arrested upon discharge.
One of the alleged victims, Jeffrey Damnit, said LaBeouf tried to attack him “while screaming, ‘You’re a f**king faggot’” (via The Guardian). Damnit, later shared a video in which LaBeouf, seated in the back of a vehicle, looked over and said, “Fa**ot.” In the same clip, Damnit responded, “Keep on calling me fa**ot.”
Nathan Thomas Reed, the second man named in the report, stated by text, “I want it to be known that he was calling people fa**ot.” Police initially referenced similar language in a preliminary report.
A spokesperson later said, “This remains an ongoing investigation that has to be adjudicated in court. Should additional information become available for release, we will provide an update accordingly.”
Louisiana law allows enhanced penalties if violence targets someone based on their sexual orientation. Prosecutors have not indicated whether that statute will apply. LaBeouf has not publicly addressed the specific allegations. Hours after his release, he told a local reporter, “God bless you, guys – Mardi Gras is amazing,” before posting “Free me” online at around 4.30 am on Ash Wednesday.
The episode adds to a history of public incidents. In a 2025 interview, LaBeouf credited Mel Gibson, Sean Penn and James Brolin, saying, “these guys got me to sobriety.” His past arrests and court-ordered rehabilitation have shaped his public narrative for years.
Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth Split

Amid the legal trouble, confirmation emerged that Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth separated last year. A source close to the pair told PEOPLE, “Their relationship has always been complicated. They weren’t getting along and had a lot of drama last year.” Goth reportedly “encouraged” LaBeouf to leave their Los Angeles home before he relocated to New Orleans.
“She loves him, but she also doesn’t need him. She’s very independent. She has her own life, her own career and her priority is their daughter.”
LaBeouf and Goth met in 2012 while filming Nymphomaniac: Vol. II. Their relationship moved in cycles: a Las Vegas ceremony in 2016, a divorce announcement in 2018, a reconciliation in 2020. They rarely discussed details in public.

Parenthood marked a turning point for both actors. After welcoming their daughter Isabel in 2022, LaBeouf said on a Real Ones podcast:
“It feels like some kind of weird reset button. I know that I’m never going to be the dude that I was in front of [my daughter]. It’s almost like having the ultimate parole officer. I need somebody to keep me accountable.”
Goth later described motherhood as “a psychedelic experience.”
“You’re parenting her, but you’re also parenting the version of you that existed when you were that age. The amount of love that you can feel … she’s the greatest gift of my life.”
LaBeouf remains involved in his daughter’s life. “Shia loves their daughter and stays in touch,” the source noted.
