The X-Men reboot was inevitable after the success of Beau DeMayo’s Marvel Animation for Disney+, X-Men ’97. Also, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine has been on the constant buzz ahead of its release on July 26. Now, Marvel Studios has booked Michael Lesslie to scribe the movie, and the anticipation has escalated.
Michael Lesslie Joined Marvel Studios To Write New X-Men Movie
A lot has been on the plate of Marvel Studios recently. After several roadblocks including the failure of The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Multiverse Saga’s big bad Kang actor Jonathan Major’s dismissal from the studio, Marvel is gaining momentum, or at least being relevant with several updates.
Of course, Majors’ absence is still a void for the grand multiversal narrative but the studio has been investing more in other projects. Most recently, highly anticipated the X-Men reboot got an update that assured fans about the project moving forward at Marvel.

Fans Speculate X-Men Reboot Villain
While details of the X-Men reboot are hazy, fans have already picked their favorite villain of the mutant superhero bands led by Professor X. Right now, it is hard to speculate which storyline Marvel would exactly follow but certain villains must appear for the first movie and fans have exciting suggestions for the studio.
Who should be the villain for MCU’s first X-MEN movie?
I say MR. SINISTER!#XMen97 pic.twitter.com/hgpDozH3BI

Sinister . Hot take but don’t even put magneto in the first one. Mention him but that’s it.

This is the answer. Let magneto rest for a film, give us a villain we haven’t seen on screen before.

Sinister and Nimrod with hints of the Phoenix force

Sure, Mister Sinister in live-action would be awesome as many fans would want to watch the iconic villain on the big screen. Also, the villain has a glorious screen time in X-Men ’97 but there are other villains that could make a potential debut in the MCU with the first installment of the reboot.
Sinister or Omega Red. We've seen Magneto twice already. Also got a really good Apocalypse. Give us something different. Wouldn't be opposed to ripping off X-men 97 and doing Bastion.

Sinister and Shadow King for first film
Omega Red, Death Strike, Reavers, and Graydon Creed for second film
Magneto and his brotherhood for third one
Apocalypse should be saved for fifth and sixth film similar to Thanos in Infinity War and Endgame one film can't do him justice— Eduardo Lopez 3 (@EduardoLopez38) May 22, 2024
Reavers, but sent by sinister, who appears briefly only in the end. Apocalypse appear in credits as the big bad of mutant franchise.

More information on the movie will be unveiled as the story develops, but it’s unlikely that the movie will hit the theaters anytime soon. Mahershala Ali’s Blade reboot is still far from the light of day despite the scheduled release date getting closer. Blade is slated for 7 November 2025 release and considering the projects on the table, the first movie of the X-Men reboot is likely to hit the theaters in the later months of 2026 or in the Summer of 2017.
