What's Inside?

  • Jensen Ackles returns as Soldier Boy in 'Vought Rising', set in 1950s New York before The Boys timeline.
  • The Prime Video prequel explores the dark origins of Vought International, including early Compound V experiments and propaganda-driven superhero culture.
  • Aya Cash reprises Stormfront alongside a new ensemble cast, with the series expected to release in 2027.

The world of The Boys may have closed one chapter, but Prime Video is already preparing audiences for another violent and unsettling ride. Vought Rising takes viewers back to 1950s New York, long before Homelander became the face of Vought International. The prequel explores how the corporation first built its grip on power while experimenting with superheroes behind patriotic slogans and polished public images.

Led by Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront, the series promises another dark expansion of The Boys universe. The teaser already hints at blood-soaked experiments, political manipulation, and the early roots of the corrupt machine fans came to know across five seasons of the original show. With a retro setting and familiar faces returning, the spin-off is shaping up to be one of Prime Video’s biggest franchise projects yet.

Vought Rising focuses on the twisted rise of Vought International decades before the events of The Boys. The story follows Soldier Boy during an era when he still believed he could become a national hero. Instead, the series appears set to expose how power, propaganda, and violent experimentation shaped both the company and the superheroes tied to it.

Prime Video’s official synopsis describes the series as:

“Vought Rising marks the further expansion of the global franchise. Set in the 1950s, the prequel series explores the twisted origins of Vought International. The teaser offers a diabolical first look at the world and story that will define this next evolution of the franchise.”

The teaser trailer already reveals disturbing images tied to Compound V testing, brutal fights, and secretive operations hidden beneath polished public messaging. That setting gives the series a very different atmosphere from The Boys. Instead of social media scandals and modern celebrity culture, Vought Rising leans into post-war American patriotism and controlled public perception.

The series is set in New York City during the 1950s, roughly 70 years before the timeline of The Boys. This period marks the earliest stage of Vought International’s transformation into a corporate empire built around superheroes.

The timeline also places Soldier Boy at a very different point in his life. According to the teaser, he still wants to “fight for the flag” and become a symbol of American heroism. However, the prequel will reportedly show how that idealism slowly collapses into violence and corruption.

Stormfront also plays a key role in this era. Since audiences already know her hidden identity and extremist ideology from The Boys Season 2, the prequel could reveal how deeply she influenced Vought’s direction from the very beginning.

Jensen Ackles returns as Soldier Boy, while Aya Cash reprises her role as Stormfront, also known as Clara Vought. The supporting cast introduces several new characters connected to Vought’s early superhero programme.

Ackles remains one of the most popular additions to The Boys franchise after his performance as Soldier Boy. His return as both lead actor and producer signals how heavily Prime Video is investing in the character’s future within the franchise.

Aya Cash’s return also raises the stakes significantly. Stormfront became one of the franchise’s most disturbing villains, and the prequel may finally uncover how Clara Vought embedded herself into the company’s rise to power.

Is There A Trailer For Vought Rising?

Yes. Prime Video released the first teaser trailer on May 22, offering audiences a brutal first look at the prequel series.

The footage opens with Soldier Boy presenting himself as an aspiring American hero before the tone quickly shifts into violence, scientific experiments, explosions, and bloodshed. One disturbing sequence even shows a scientist approaching a cow with a syringe, hinting at early Compound V testing.

The teaser closes with Stormfront delivering the chilling line: “There is a brighter future. All we need to do is take it.”

Visually, the trailer blends retro Americana with the same violent energy that defined The Boys. The 1950s backdrop also gives the series a noir-inspired atmosphere that separates it from the original show.

Vought Rising Creatives

Paul Grellong serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series. Eric Kripke continues overseeing the franchise alongside executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

The project is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Kripke recently described the show as “smart and twisty and noir-ish and really fun,” while confirming that the production is deep into post-production work.

Where To Stream Vought Rising?

Like The Boys and Gen V, the prequel series will stream exclusively on Prime Video.

The platform has continued expanding The Boys franchise over the past few years, positioning Vought Rising as another major entry connected to the larger shared universe.

When Will Vought Rising Be Released?

Prime Video has confirmed that Vought Rising will premiere in the first half of 2027, although an exact release date has not been announced yet.

The announcement arrived shortly after the finale of The Boys, allowing Prime Video to keep momentum around the franchise moving forward. With filming largely completed and visual effects work underway, more updates are expected over the coming months.
