HBO’s flagship show House of the Dragon is now streaming on Max. Olivia Cooke who plays Alicent Hightower reveals that she had a messy intense s–x scene for an episode of the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel. However, series creator Ryan Condel decided to cut the scene out and Cooke was not particularly happy with Condel’s decision.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s novel series, HBO’s Game of Thrones and its prequel series House of the Dragon have intense character building, epic storytelling, and both the series are unapologetically bold. Inherently these are the signature trademarks of the series. However, in the second season of House of the Dragons, as Olivia Cooke revealed, she filmed an intense and kind of messy s–x scene but her effort and dedication to the scene went in vain as the showrunner Ryan Condel decided to cut the “carnal” and “animalistic,” scene off from the show.

“It was messy as f–ck,” Cooke said of the scene during her recent char with ELLE. “It wasn’t beautiful, and that was really fun to do,” she added. However, the scene had little to do with the development of the characters involved, so, the showrunner decided to omit the scene. “I think Ryan said we weren’t learning any more about the characters, which I disagree with slightly,” the actor added. “But it’s OK. It’s his show.”

Of course, Cooke filmed every required s–x scene under the observation of the show’s intimacy coordinator Vanessa Coffrey which is kind of a must in Hollywood while filming scenes involving intimacy.

Olivia Cooke Thought There Would Be Way More S–X Scenes In House of the Dragon

Considering Cooke’s HBO show’s sequel Game of Thrones which debuted on the network on April 17, 2011, and ran for 8 seasons, House of the Dragon has a lesser amount of s–x scenes. Of course, newer cinematic projects tend to have fewer intimate scenes than before as Cine TitBit previously reported, but Cooke thought that she would have to endure several intimate scenes.

“I thought there’d be way more,” Cooke said of nudity and s–x scenes in HOTD. “I’m relieved that when it has been used for me, it’s showing Alicent being pleasured, which is amazing and doesn’t feel gratuitous. It feels like we’re telling a story,” she added.

But her character Alicent “doesn’t rule by hormones like the men do and is not impulsive,” the English actor told ELLE. But when it comes to working in the industry, the 30-year-old star said, “It’s incredibly male-dominated still.” Explaining working in the environment, she added, “you can only try and advocate for yourself and others around you and set out, where you have the power to, to create more opportunities for people.”

House of the Dragon will have eight episodes in the second season. HBO has already renewed the show for the third season.
