Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home had almost everything Marvel fans would wish to witness on the big screen. The movie has pulled off the iconic Spider-Man trio union accompanying the reappearance of the iconic villains. However, Peter Parker had one massive blow in the end, which propelled Doctor Strange to cast a memory wipe spell on everyone who knew Parker was Spider-Man. So, it opened the door for discussion, what will be his fate?

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Trilogy Was A Stepping Stone

Industry insider, Alex Perez recently joined a Q&A session organized by The Cosmic Circus on their Discord server revealing details of what the Marvel Studios is cooking. Revealing details on Spider-Man, Perez said that the first trilogy of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was just the building block for the future of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Peter’s first trilogy was all about establishing his origin in the MCU,” Perez said.

“I know people complained about him being a novice and acting childish at times, but that’s who he is. He’s just 15 when we meet him in Civil War, & 17 by the time No Way Home ends.”

There has always been an inherent quest for Peter Parker to establish himself as a hero. In Homecoming, “Peter wanted to prove himself to be an Avenger alongside Tony but realized that being the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man was better for him,” Perez continued.

“In Infinity War and Endgame, he was forced to rise to the challenge of being an Avenger. In Far From Home, he struggles with establishing himself as his own hero when everyone expects him to be the next Iron Man and all he wants after everything he’s been through is to have a normal moment as Peter Parker.”

Now, with the end of the trilogy, the saga of Holland’s Spider-Man is expected to head in a specified direction but this brings an existential threat to Peter Parker.

Peter Parker’s Existential Is More Serious Than You Think But It’s Kinda Essential

Spider-Man: No Way Home perfectly reflected why Peter Parker and Spider-Man cannot truly coexist “without putting the people he loves in danger.” Maybelle “May” Parker a.k.a. Aunt May’s tragic death left Parker all alone in the universe and her death may be the catalyst of the next phase of Spider-Man’s story arc. “This all leads to the next chapter in his story,” Perez said.

“The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence. In his mind, Peter Parker is no more… but Spider-Man lives on. Since he has either lost or detached himself from everyone he’s ever loved, all he has to keep him going is being Spider-Man, whether the city loves him for it or not. And as the title of Spider-Man continues to consume Peter’s life little by little, Peter Parker will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly. This story point can be compared to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman,” he added.

In this regard, it is safe to assume that the conflict between Parker and Spider-Man would be still visible in Spider-Man 4, at least in the first half of the movie. Rest assured, Spider-Man 4 is confirmed by producer Amy Pascal in an interview with Fandango. However, the movie is still in the early stages of development as it was delayed by the Writer’s Strike in Hollywood.
