Chris Evans Returns As The Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine
We all know and love Chris Evans for his role as Captain America in his solo movies and the Avengers series. The actor makes a surprising return to his Marvel character The Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine. Evan’s Avengers character Steve Rogers retired following the event of Avengers: Endgame. His cameos in the movie also marked his return as Captain America as he appeared alongside a few fellow Avengers on the TVA monitor to which Deadpool saluted.

Evans’ Human Torch cameo is a Marvel character also known as Johnny Storm first appeared in the 2005 movie Fantastic Four under the banner of 20th Century Fox. Similar to his iconic dialogue in Avengers movies, “Avengers, assemble!” he exclaims, “Flame on!” in the latest Marvel blockbuster and ignites in flames.
However, the villains quickly extinguish him, and he crashes back to the ground. This scene humorously nods to Evans’ previous role as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, in the Fantastic Four films. As Evans smolders, Wolverine remarks, “We don’t know that guy,” and Deadpool adds, “We thought we did,” highlighting their disappointment.
Marvel Studios has rebooted the Fantastic Four movie under their own banner starring Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm.
Chris Evans Explains Why He Returned To Play Johnny Storm
Evans’ return as Storm was a real surprise for fans but a delight to relive the nostalgia ahead of falling for the new Johnny Storm. But Evans didn’t mind wearing the suit of the Fantastic Four character once again in the multiversal extravaganza. His return was “primarily because where we find Johnny, he’s meant to be a little more rundown, so the costume didn’t have to be pristine,” Evans told Entertainment Weekly.
Ryan Reynolds who was also responsible for making the astounding cameos in the movie a possibility, was quite casual in his approach to Evans as he asked the Avengers actor if he could return to his nearly two-decade old character.
