James Gunn recently unveiled the first look of David Corenswet in the Superman suit that had been donned earlier by Christopher Reeve (1978-1987), Brandon Routh (2006), and Henry Cavill (2013-2022). There’s a stark contrast between Corenswet’s costume and that of Cavill. Meanwhile, fans have not been very welcoming towards the latest suit and are petitioning #FireJamesGunn on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Following the first-look revelation of David Corenswet as Superman, some fans are not happy with how it’s done. And they took to X to demand James Gunn’s removal.

Following the first look revelation, some fans are not happy with how it’s done. And they took to X to demand James Gunn’s removal.

As this suit does not look promising to the majority of fans, they think Gunn will again ruin the legacy. As one fans say since Gunn’s arrival, the studio has struggled. Removing fan-favorite actors and bringing fresh actors on board does not always work.

Another fan says that it’s not Zack Snyder but Gunn who did more damage to DC and thus they appeal to restore Snyderverse

Henry Cavill’s departure marked the end of the Snyderverse era and fans still think that no one could play the Superman role more aptly than Cavill.

However, it will be too early to judge the upcoming Superman movie just from the first look. We all know James Gunn and what he cooks.

The Superman film, previously titled Superman: Legacy, is currently being filmed at a private, heavily guarded sound stage in Atlanta.

The Superman cast features Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and newcomers like David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel. Other cast include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. Additionally, Skyler Gisondo joined the cast as Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

More recently Pruitt Taylor Vince was cast as Jonathan ‘Pa’ Kent, while Neva Howell signed on to play Martha ‘Ma’ Kent.

Per DC Studios, Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and a better tomorrow, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Superman is currently scheduled to be released exclusively in theaters on July 11, 2025.
