The suit of Superman is in stark contrast to his predecessor Henry Cavill’s Superman suit in the Zack Snyder movies. While Cavill’s Superman had a modern look with a dark blue glossy suit, Corenswet’s one is rather retro, baggy, and faded. The logo in the suit was similar to what Gunn had previously teased but very different from Cavill’s Superman.
With that note, the previous Superman never had any trunks on the suit but the recent image of Corenswet in the suit of the titular hero featured the classic red trunk complementing that with what appears to be a belt and a pair of red high boots. In both cases, the red cape adorned both versions of the hero.
Is David Corenswet’s Superman Suit A Star-Lord Rip-Off?
Of course, it’s too early to judge what James Gunn is cooking with the roaster of stars featured in the movie, and considering the prowess of the director who has MCU’s hit franchise Guardians of the Galaxy to his credit, the new Superman movie could be a massive hit— a savior DC Universe. DC has suffered several huge blows recently with their recent releases failing to make a box office impression with movies like The Flash and others, DC seemed to lose its footing, and Gunn’s Superman, the first movie of Gods and Monsters, Warner Brothers expects a stupendous return rescuing the sinking ship of the superhero brand. However, the new look of Superman has sparked mixed feelings among fans.

Regardless, it’s too early to judge what the movie will hold for the fans. While some fans can’t help but observe that the new Superman suit is inspired by Star-Lord’s from his own GOTG movies, Gunn has not commented on that as of yet. Now, the Chris Pratt starter movie franchise has ended alongside Gunn’s MCU tenure. It might look inspired at first glance but the very essence and the features of the suits are very different. Since both the suits come from the same mind, such a minor resemblance is not beyond normal. Still, Superman remains one of the most hyped movies yet to hit the theaters and the movie is very likely to hit big at the box office.
Gunn’s Superman also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason / Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica / The Engineer, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and co.
Warner Brothers has slated Superman for July 11, 2025 release.
