The DC Universe has been undergoing a major transformation under James Gunn’s leadership, with Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters setting the stage for a new era of storytelling. But while Superman has already found his place in this reshaped cinematic world, the hunt for the next Wonder Woman and Catwoman remains a hot topic among fans. Amidst that speculation, Alexandra Daddario’s name keeps resurfacing. The actress has finally spoken up about the viral fan-casting frenzy linking her to Gunn’s DCU, and her response may surprise fans.
Alexandra Daddario Reacts to Wonder Woman and Catwoman Fan Casting

In a recent interview with ScreenRant while promoting her new film, I Wish You All The Best, Alexandra Daddario was asked about the countless pieces of fan art and online buzz picturing her as either Wonder Woman or Catwoman. The 39-year-old actress, known for her striking looks and commanding on-screen presence, had a candid response.
“I have to be honest, I haven’t seen any of that [fan art],” Daddario admitted. “I’m flattered to hear that it’s happening, but I haven’t seen it.”
She went on to clarify that while she wasn’t aware of the ongoing online campaign, she’d absolutely be open to joining James Gunn’s creative universe if the opportunity arose. “But of course, working with James Gunn would be amazing in any capacity,” she said. “I wasn’t aware that that was going on.”
Her remarks quickly reignited fan discussions across social media, with many pointing out how effortlessly Daddario could embody the Amazonian warrior or Gotham’s elusive cat burglar. However, for now, her involvement remains purely speculative.
James Gunn’s Expanding DCU and the Search for the Next Wonder Woman

James Gunn’s DC Universe continues to take shape. Both Wonder Woman and Catwoman are confirmed to appear in upcoming DCU projects, though neither has been officially cast. Gunn recently confirmed via Threads on September 29, 2025, that Catwoman will feature in the new continuity, though details about her debut project are still under wraps.
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman’s next chapter is already in early development. On June 10, 2025, Gunn confirmed that a new Wonder Woman film was being written, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira penning the screenplay.
Additionally, DC Studios is developing a prequel series titled Paradise Lost, which Gunn described to Entertainment Weekly as “slow moving, but it’s moving.” The project will explore Themyscira’s political intrigue and mythological roots before Diana’s rise as Wonder Woman.
Despite the anticipation, DC Studios has yet to reveal who will wield the Lasso of Truth next.
If development continues smoothly, it is fair to assume that the new Wonder Woman film could arrive by 2028, marking a significant milestone in DCU’s long-term roadmap. Until then, Daddario’s comments have only added fuel to the conversation. While we are at it, it will be wise to look at the realistic picture, as Daddario is already 39, and by the look of the revamped DC casting of mainline heroes, James is probably looking to add rather young stars to the roster.
But as many fans demand or at least hope, Daddario gets all the traits of Wonder Woman, as her charisma makes her a perennial fan favorite for these iconic roles.
As of now, fans can catch Daddario in I Wish You All The Best, hitting theaters on November 7.
