To begin with, we, like many fans of the movie, think that The Nice Guys deserves a sequel.
Shane Black’s 2016 action comedy The Nice Guys has to be one of the most beloved action comedies ever produced in Hollywood. The Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe starrer movie beautifully exploited the chemistry of the duo with an immaculate narrative fitting to the eccentricities of the characters. Now, nearly eight years after the release of the movie, Crowe has finally revealed what happened behind one hilarious scene in the movie.
Russell Crowe Revealed What Happened After This Ryan Gosling Hilarious Scene
Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe’s The Nice Guys is a complete entertainment package and the movie has a wide fandom. However, despite the positive reviews of the film which claimed a stunning 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the Shane Black-directed hilarious action package has not been cleared for a sequel. But the craving for another installment aside, the movie has left a prominent mark among fans.
Recently, Crowe appeared in British GQ’s Actually Me where the Oscar winner discussed some of the unanswered questions involving his cinematic legacy. Responding to one user on X who asked the actor about Gosling’s iconic and weird shriek scene as the duo got into a fight. “I did f–cking laugh,” Crowe said of the scene. “Ryan Gosling is one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life,” the Gladiator and The Insider actor said of his The Nice Guys co-star. “Working with him is kind of torturous, unknown for being able to just stay in character no matter what’s going on but for whatever reason, Ryan tickles my fancy and he can make me laugh at the drop of a hat,” he added.
Of course, the subtlety of Gosling does indicate the essence of the prowess of the actor and his ability to take on any role. The versatility of the actor has forged his career to reach an extensive height which made him Hollywood’s one of the most sought-after actors of current times.
The Nice Guys Director Failed To Keep Ryan Gosling And Russell Crowe In Line
Filming The Nice Guys was not just fun for Crowe, Ryan Gosling also had an amazing time on set but it was kind of a nightmare for the director Shane Black who often failed to contain the laughter of the duo on set. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the director revealed that their uncontrolled laughter ruined his takes, more than once, or in fact beyond his tolerance level as he had to scream. “I’ve been on sets where the two guys didn’t like each other very much,” Black said.
“That’s a terrible situation and this was not that. The problem was, if any, was that they were ruining takes because they would make each other laugh and they were sadistic about it.”
Black went on to add, that their uncontrolled laughter propelled him to scream, “We’d be screaming, ‘Not tonight guys, come on, we’re losing the light! We blocked off the entire street, please not tonight.’ And that of course just made them do it more and crack each other up even more. But, you know, it’s fun to watch.”
And when Gosling had to respond to the laughter, he revealed that it was not easy to hold it together, “We had to seriously hold it together,” the actor told the outlet.
Ryan Gosling Often Forced Russell Crowe To Break Character In The Nice Guys
Crowe has a reputation for being professional, not breaking his character while on set filming his projects. Not with Gosling, Crowe said the Barbie star “gets me every time.” In a chat with GQ (via The Wrap), the 60-year-old revealed that Gosling propelled him to break character on several occasions. “Trying to work with that kid,” he said of Gosling.
The Pope’s Exorcist actor added, “I’m famous for not breaking character no matter what – Ridley [Scott] used to laugh about it. The Colosseum could be collapsing behind me and I’d still be doing my stuff,” he said of Ridley Scott directed 2000 epic historical drama, Gladiator (which is getting a sequel soon). “There’s a thing in acting called corpsing – laughing inappropriately. That little (expletive) gets me every time.”
