Game of Thrones star Kit Harington was roped in more than one major project but it seems both are in the dark as of now. Harington appeared in MCU’s Eternals and he was slated to reprise his character Dane Whitman a.k.a. Black Knight in a sequel of the film. However, recent rumors stated that Marvel Studios has butchered the potential sequel. Amid that, Harington revealed that the fate of the Game Of Thrones Jon Snow spinoff is bleak.

Why Kit Harington’s Game Of Thrones Jon Snow Spinoff Series Is Not On the Card?

It’s not because of the fear of Game Of Thrones spinoff success, HBO GOT spinoff House of the Dragon for Max has been a huge hit and is all set to have its second season run. Still, Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow spinoff is off the table. During the promotional tour of his recent crime thriller Blood for Dust, the Jon Snow actor spoke with ScreenRant detailing the update on the show. “I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development,” Harington exclusively told the outlet.

“I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen. Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it.”

And currently, the actor went on to add, “It’s not. Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

Right now, HBO has a lot on its plate surrounding GOT spinoffs. Apart from House Of The Dragon, the network is also set to release another spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.

Harington was also candid about his fate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I hope that they [Marvel Studios] do something with that character,” Harington told ScreenRant of his Marvel role three years after his debut. The actor believes that the character is quite fascinating and has a lot of potential to evolve. “I think that character is fascinating and brilliant,” he added.

“And I love his trajectory in the comics. I love the idea of a good guy being turned bad by his superpower. I think that’s brilliant. I’m not sure whether we’ve had a protagonist that’s like that, so I think it’s a really strong idea. I’d love them to [revisit him].”

Further, the actor revealed the disappointing update, “I don’t know, though. The honest answer is nothing’s in the works at the moment,” he said. “If they decide to use the character in something, or as a solo thing, I’d be very excited by it. But I don’t think it’s planned at the moment.”

Indeed a truth bomb, right now, Marvel Studios is figuring out how to rebuild a new universe after Avengers: Endgame, and as recent reports revealed, Marvel Studios or their parent company Disney are keen on vomiting risk factors that inherently may butcher several characters from appearing in MCU, at least anytime soon.
