Zack Snyder’s post-DC phase in his career is not seemingly what fans have expected from the director. Of course, Snyder has several astonishing credits to his name including his 2004 cult classic Dawn of the Dead; his DCEU movie, Zack Snyder’s Justice League; Netflix hit, Army of the Dead; and perhaps his most underrated work, Watchmen. However, the recent works from the director have been downright average. Now, as he shared two never-before-seen images of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, fans on X erupted with outrageous responses.

While James Gunn is rebuilding DC Universe with new Superman star David Corenswet, Zack Snyder who previously directed Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel and Zack Snyder’s Justice League has shared images of the British actor on his Vero account. In the images, Cavill appeared as Clark Kent— a simpleton alias of Superman.
“This came up on my timeline,” Snyder captioned on Vero. The images however, as per CBR, were not from the set of Man of Steel but a scrapped project Superman: Flyby. The original director left the project and Bryan Singer joined to helm casting Brandon Routh for Superman Returns. Cavill debuted as Superman/Clark Kent in Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Of late, Snyder has been struggling to impress fans with his recent works, primarily his two-part space opera Rebel Moon starring Sofia Boutella and Ed Skrein. However, the movies have scored the diminishing 22% and 17% Tomatometer ratings from the critics. Still, Snyder is very much involved with Netflix and is set to release the original animated series Twilight of the Gods.

Fans last seen Cavill as Superman in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam teasing his potential return to play the character once again in a future movie in DC. However, as Johnson’s DC debut came to be a huge flop the future of Black Adam vs Superman evaporated.
Later, as James Gunn joined DC Studios as co-CEO with Peter Safran, several slates were announced which included Gunn’s own Superman project starring Corenswet. Following the end of his DC tenure, Snyder was often seen celebrating his movies under the banner of the studio. Now, as the director shared Cavill’s images, fans could not relate to the actor as Clark Kent despite his stunning appearance as Superman.

While Snyder’s Man of Steel hailed an origin story of the titular DC hero, Gunn is focusing more on an earthly version of the character, and as per the recent leaks and casting, it seems that the narrative will be grounded.

Gunn and Safran also dismissed the previous Batman star Ben Affleck and seemingly Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot while Jason Momoa who previously played Aquaman is expected to have a major character change in DC with heavy rumors surrounding the actor playing Lobo.
