Jackie Bezos’ Inspiring Journey as a Mother and Leader

Born in 1946 in Washington, D.C., Jackie’s life took a remarkable turn when she became a mother at just 17. She raised Jeff in Albuquerque, New Mexico, working tirelessly to provide for him before meeting Miguel “Mike” Bezos, a Cuban immigrant who would become her husband in 1968. Together, they welcomed two more children, Christina and Mark.
The Bezos Family Foundation described her as a “relentless” mother who poured her energy into her children’s passions — from countless Radio Shack visits for Jeff to hours at cheerleading practice with Christina, and even hauling drums for Mark’s music. Despite the demands of motherhood, Jackie returned to school and earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at the age of 45.
In 2000, Jackie and Mike co-founded the Bezos Family Foundation, focusing on educational programs such as the Bezos Scholars Program. Her legacy is defined not just by her family’s achievements, but by the compassion, patience, and wisdom she instilled in those around her.
Jackie Bezos is survived by her husband Mike, three children, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
