The world of The Boys has never been subtle, yet Erin Moriarty’s latest revelations pull the curtain back even further. During a candid late-night appearance, the actor offered a glimpse into the bizarre, often outrageous reality of filming one of television’s most provocative superhero dramas.

As The Boys heads into its final season, these behind-the-scenes moments reveal how the cast navigates a production that thrives on pushing limits, both with the narrative and visually.

Erin Moriarty candidly recalls her experience with dildos on The Boys set while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She described the show’s environment as shocking, especially when it came to props used in certain episodes.

“I would say X-rated at times. I would say X-rated at times. Like I’ve worked with I was I was thinking about this one season. I think my co-star Karen and I are female actresses that have broken the record,” Erin Moriarty said of Prime Video’s The Boys.

Then she whispered, “Am I allowed to say dildo?”

Kimmel responded, “Yes, you may say it.”

“That have worked with as many dildos as we’ve worked with. I think we’ve broken the record,” she continued.

Moriarty further explained the situation, saying that the show is not for children at all.

“We aren’t adult like you know that kind of actresses but I think we’ve broken the record in terms of how many dildos we’ve used as like background props or even like utilized as weapons in fights on a TV show. So to say the least, it’s not for children. No. I’ve even learned about weird things on that show like sex toys. The s*x toys out there guys are crazy.”

Later, she pointed to the infamous “Herogasm” episode as a turning point.

“I’m actually thinking of one specifically because we shot an episode called Heroasm. And Heroasm was an episode that basically it’s a superhero orgy, right? Because on the show, the question is, if superheroes really existed, would they be good? And the answer is probably not. They would be drunk on power. They would be, and they would be egoomaniacs, sociopaths, what have you.”

While the scale of the set surprised her, one particular moment stood out for its sheer absurdity. Moriarty recalled walking onto set and unknowingly interacting with a prop that left the crew stunned. Yeah, no surprise, in a weird way.

Moriarty said that there is an episode dedicated to the hypersexualisation that can happen when people are given everything they want, where things can become sexually unusual and exploratory, adding that she spent an entire week filming on what was essentially a superhero orgy set.

“And I just walk onto set and I remember being like, ‘Oh, what’s this?’ and sticking my finger in it and everyone’s like, ‘Don’t what are you doing? Why would you do that? You don’t know where that’s been.’ and then going to use hand sanitizer and pumping it into my hand, and like, because it was during Covid times and people were like, that’s lube, that’s not hand sanitizer.”

She details further, “So that’s the kind of props we’re working with.”

The moment did not end there. Kimmel pressed for details, prompting another vivid explanation.

“What was the thing you put your finger into that you weren’t supposed to?” Jimmy asked.

“It was like an upside-down little apparatus of a human girl, and I put my finger in a hole. I shouldn’t have cuz you know, I don’t know where it’s, I can’t even describe it, but I put my finger in it, and then I got to say like the shape of the dildos on that set. You guys don’t understand what people. Maybe you do. I don’t like to kink shame. I don’t like to kink shame.”

As the show approaches its final chapter, the scale of its story continues to grow. Season five will bring closure to Eric Kripke’s long-planned arc, with Homelander now positioned as the dominant force in America. Early footage teases a chilling vision of control, where power operates without restraint.

The ensemble cast remains strong, featuring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, and others, alongside new and returning faces. Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy returns as a series regular, while Jared Padalecki and Daveed Diggs join the expanding universe.

As for the narrative, Homelander seeks greater dominance, even chasing immortality through experimental means. Meanwhile, Billy Butcher faces the consequences of his own choices, setting up a final confrontation that could reshape everything. The official storyline promises a world on edge, with resistance forming under impossible odds.

Characters from Gen V appear, and new arcs hint at future spin-offs such as Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico. Even as the main story concludes, its universe shows no signs of slowing down.

Season five of The Boys premieres on April 8 with two episodes, followed by weekly releases leading up to the series finale on May 20.
