What's Inside?

  • Jack Quaid confirms 'The Boys' Season 5 will end on its own terms with an intense, emotional finale.
  • The final season promises major character deaths and a brutal, non-fairytale conclusion true to the show’s tone.
  • Season 5 features eight episodes, premiering April 8 on Prime Video with a two-episode launch and weekly releases.

The final chapter of The Boys is approaching with sky-high expectations. After years of chaos, satire, and unforgettable moments, the series is preparing to close its story with a decisive and explosive ending. With the stakes at their highest, fans are bracing for a conclusion that stays true to the show’s brutal tone.

Actor Jack Quaid has now offered fresh insight into what viewers can expect. His comments point to an emotionally charged and unpredictable finale, which perfectly aligns with the series’ legacy while bringing its long-running conflict to a close.

Speaking during his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jack Quaid confirmed that the series will end on its own terms under creator Eric Kripke’s vision. “Yeah, we know it’s ending. Thank God we knew going in, and this is like, you know, Eric Kripke’s intentional ending for the show,” Quaid said of The Boys season 5.

“Like, we’re ending on our own terms, which is just so special. It never gets to happen in TV anymore. But it was great. Like, I’ve known these people for like nine years. It’s like five seasons, but it’s been nine years of just being on this absolutely insane show.”

Quaid, who played Hugh “Hughie” Campbell Jr. in the show, also hinted at the emotional toll of filming the final season, especially as the story pushes its characters to extreme limits. “No. In no way. No. It’s The Boys,” he said, shutting down any idea of a neat resolution.

“You know, it’s not going to be a fairy-tale ending… in any regard. But, yeah, like, no, this is the final season, and we really do mean that. There are characters — I won’t say who, but who meet their end. And it’s crazy. It’s really, really nuts. And it was emotional.”

He continued, “Like, you know, I’m covered in blood a lot on the show. And it was so weird to, you know, be covered in blood and various goos and then to just, like, also be emotional about that where I’m like, ‘I’m really gonna miss this.’ And I’m just drenched head-to-toe (in fake blood). But it’s like, It’s just been the honor of my life. Like, I truly love this show and everyone involved.”

Beyond the action, Quaid reflected on the strong bond among the cast. “We’re so bonded. We do this thing now when you know, we shoot really long hours, and once we hit around 2:00 a.m., we’re just trying to, like, keep each other awake and keep each other laughing. So we enter this phase, which I like to call ‘goof hour,’ where we are just trying to make each other laugh at all costs.”
