Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, will once again find herself in the City of Lights—and beyond—as Netflix has officially renewed Emily in Paris for its fifth season. The news comes after the final episodes of Season 4 were released recently. Fans shouldn’t be surprised at the show’s return since they already see how Emily’s latest adventures make their whole lives worthwhile. Season 5 will see this dual setting, as Emily will have her life moving between Paris and Rome after the previous season closed with her opening a new office in Italy and finding a new love.
Emily In Paris Renewed For Season 5
Lily Collins, speaking in a Netflix statement, described her excitement at Emily’s growing character arc. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” said Collins. An important aspect this upcoming season will explore is her ability to find joy and balance without conditions, Collins added. In fact, her romantic connection with Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, is expected to play a central role in this development.
Although the story now incorporates Rome, Paris is still a main setting for this series. Showrunner of this program Darren Star, who created the show, stated clearly that Emily will still stay in Paris, although she goes wider into Italy now. According to Star: “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” but Paris will remain “important to her journey.”.

Interestingly, not much official word has been said about whether Season 5 would be the final chapter of Emily in Paris, as most Netflix series typically conclude after four or five seasons. This leaves the fans hoping to get more in the future.
The solid cast of Emily in Paris, including familiar faces such as Ashley Park, Camille Razat, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and William Abadie returns in a new season. Among the novelties for the lineup are Thalia Besson, daughter of the filmmaker Luc Besson, and Genevieve, Sylvie’s stepdaughter from New York, which will bring new dynamics to the office and much-needed rivalry into the life of Emily.
Although the producing team includes Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Alison Brown, it is mainly Darren Star’s creative vision that has continued to propel this show. Not to mention, Collins is also a producer, along with some big names, such as Ryan McCormick and Raphaël Benoliel.
Emily In Paris Definitely Deserves A Season Renewal Despite Mixed Reviews
Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger, as Emily was thought to be a suitable candidate to become the new head of the Roman office of Agence Grateau. Sylvie, played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, came up with this opportunity, which puts Emily really close to her love interest Marcello. This is going to be an interesting dynamic as Season 5 is likely going to balance the growth of Emily’s professional life in a new country and with people, as well as in comparison to what is happening in Paris.
However, Emily in Paris has been receiving renewed critical flak from viewers despite renewed shows. This show has wildly inconsistent audience scores, with a score of just 49% on Rotten Tomatoes. The season scored much lower at 46% reception. That notwithstanding, Netflix renewed the show and suggests that there is still a lot more to Emily’s romantic and professional misadventures.
As Season 5 prepares to delve into new territories and character developments, fans can expect another chapter of glamorous settings, complicated relationships, and high-stakes career decisions that have become the hallmark of Emily in Paris. While the future of the series beyond this season remains unclear, it’s clear that Emily’s story is far from over.
