Nicolas Cage is playing the titular serial killer in Longlegs, perhaps this will be one of the most definitive roles of the actors in recent times as the early reviews of the movie teased. Maika Monroe plays Agent Lee Harker, an FBI agent hunting down the serial killer.

Directed by Oz Perkins who previously helmed horror fantasy Gretel & Hansel, and A24 horror The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Longlegs’ official synopsis reads: “In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.”

Of course, the movie has been in a tremendous buzz not just for Cage’s stardom but Monroe who has been a veteran of the genre with several titles including Significant Other, Greta, Villains, and of course, David Robert Mitchell-directed It Follows, has heightens the excitement even further.

Based on 9 reviews, Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs claimed a stunning Rotten Tomatoes score. Here are the TOP reviews from critics—

“Longlegs is Perkins’ trademark aesthetic at max volume, lingering in your thoughts, under your skin, and in the pit of your stomach well after it’s over.” — Matt Donato, Inverse.

“There are moments when Longlegs feels like a movie you’ve seen before, but with an evil filter laid over it: This is both a weakness and a strength, as Perkins’ horror surrealism renders the familiar strange, and the strange familiar.” — Katie Rife, IGN Movies

“Longlegs is one of the scariest and best films of the year, hands down.” — Mary Beth McAndrews, Dread Central.

“Longlegs gets under your skin and stays there, immersing you so thoroughly in the repulsive, discomforting nature of evil through terrifying imagery and a tactile atmosphere that it’s unshakable.” — Meagan Navarro, Bloody Disgusting.

“It’s as if Oz Perkins’ cinematic freak-fest was forged in Hell by Satan, who brought it as an artifact into our world as a gift.” — Courtney Howard, Fresh Fiction.

Cage is also producing the movie alongside Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan, and Chris Ferguson. Neon is set to distribute the movie that is scheduled to hit the theatres on 12 July 2024.
