Another one of the highly anticipated movies of 2024 Joker 2, which is officially titled Joker: Folie A Deux, the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 dark hit dropped a new official trailer and people can see Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga getting ready to deliver what fans have been waiting and what they want.
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga Bring Chaos as Joker and Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 award-winning film Joker has unleashed its latest trailer, showcasing the return of Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role and introducing Lady Gaga as the infamous Harley Quinn. Titled Joker: Folie à Deux, the film promises a descent further into Gotham’s underbelly.
The trailer hints at a twisted love story brewing between the two iconic characters, possibly set within the confines of Arkham Asylum. It was revealed that the film will make its world premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, mirroring the first film’s Golden Lion win in 2019.
The plot, which is partially a musical, largely unfolds in Arkham Asylum. The supporting cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey, with Zazie Beetz returning as Sophie.
Joker’s singing talents are highlighted in the film, with Harley Quinn delighting in the chaos they create together. The trailer concludes with a serene moment of Harley and Joker singing hymns. Additionally, a glimpse of Arthur Fleck’s trial is provided.
Throughout the trailer, Fleck’s struggle with newfound fame is evident, with Harley Quinn sharing the spotlight. She expresses her sense of solidarity with Fleck, saying, “You can do anything you want. You’re Joker.”
In one intense scene, Phoenix’s Fleck/Joker is seen in court, shouting, “I will no longer allow any of you to keep me down!”
The title Folie à Deux refers to a psychological condition where a similar mental disorder affects two or more individuals, typically family members.

The first Joker was nominated for 11 Oscars, with star Joaquin Phoenix winning best actor and Hildur Guðnadóttir for original score. It became the highest-grossing R-rated movie in history. The sequel will have Phoenix reprise his role, and fans think he is going to shine again.

In addition to directing, Phillips also wrote Joker 2 alongside Scott Silver and produces the upcoming film. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener. Zazie Beetz will reprise her role from Joker.
