Shawn Levy alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman played big with their latest flick Deadpool & Wolverine. The movie has been a smashing hit still on the chase for 2024’s box office milestone. While the iron is hot, it is also feasible to think of another installment as the Reynolds and Jackman’s reunion perfectly worked for Marvel Studios. Now, Levy already has some cool ideas circling around his head that are ready to be inked on paper as the screenplay for the next installment of the hit franchise.
Shawn Levy Has A Cool Idea For Deadpool 4
Deadpool & Wolverine is a massive success and continues to shine at the box office. The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer movie is now tallying $630.4 million at the global box office (per Deadline). With the success under their sleeve, Marvel Studios would be looking at another installment with Deadpool or perhaps with the duo again as Reynolds’s Deadpool said Marvel will use Wolverine until Jackman reaches 90 years of age.
Jokes apart, Levy previously told Total Film that he found Deadpool’s next partner in the potential upcoming installment. This time Shawn Levy would love to see Wade Wilson teaming up with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
“The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity,” Levy told the outlet. “But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.”
Marvel’s Multiverse Saga brings immense possibilities for characters of different projects to appear together. Deadpool & Wolverine producer, Wendy Jacobson also has an idea for the next Deadpool movie as she would very much want to see Deadpool and She-Hulk villain Titania to have a solid fight. “She’s such a heightened, hilarious character and also an actor who can improv and is razor-sharp and can banter,” Jacobson said. “I can’t imagine being an actor, period, but I can’t imagine having to work opposite someone like Ryan Reynolds, who is just so quick and so smart and so funny all the time – but that woman could handle it.”
Whatever the case, a fourth installment for Deadpool & Wolverine is almost inevitable as Marvel will not sideline one of the hottest superheroes (in terms of popularity) hanging up his swords for good.
Deadpool & Wolverine May Have Teased A Future Spider-Man Deadpool Collaboration
Shawn Levy’s favorite Marvel character has to be Spider-Man, the director has added several easter eggs and Spidey references in Deadpool & Wolverine. In Deadpool being interviewed by Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) scene, there was a photograph of Tony Stark with Peter Parker where Parker’s face was carefully hidden (possibly since Spider-Man is owned by Sony, Marvel did not go to the length to get the permission to show the character).
Also, while driving with Wolverine, Deadpool makes a web-shooting hand motion and that was hilariously complemented by the similar sound effects that Spidey’s web shooters make. It seems it was to annoy Wolverine but this could very well be Levy teasing a Spider-Man and Deadpool movie. Why not? That will be fun and huge.
SUGGESTED: Shawn Levy Revealed His Favorite Marvel Cameo— No, It’s Not From ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
During his promotional tour with Reynolds and Jackman, Levy told Etalk that “Spidey” is his favorite Marvel character. “Feel like Spidey is the hero to all the skinny guys,” Levy said. “He’s like agile but doesn’t need that much brute force,” he added.
Of course, Reynolds being Reynolds made a funny joke out of it, “It’s nice to have a superhero that’s a virgin.”
So, a Deadpool & Spider-Man movie is not out of the box considering Deadpool’s MCU debut opens up the possibility of the grand universe under the umbrella of the superhero brand.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing in theaters.
