Vincent D’Onofrio recently revealed that he was surprised after one violent scene made it to the series. There is the inherent signature trait of several Marvel comics characters that their narratives are infested with violence and gore. As it’s hard to imagine a Deadpool movie without an R rating, Daredevil narratives are also inherently dark in terms of the generic tonality of it. Sure, Disney is seemingly open to the demands of the audience for keeping the original crux of their projects despite their long-time problems with graphic content. Deadpool & Wolverine proves that the landscape in Disney, especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is changing, and it’s changing fast as several projects including Daredevil: Born Again and the upcoming Blade reboot will follow the original darker narratives in terms of the very tonality of the projects.

Fans would be pleased to know that Daredevil: Born Again will be much darker than the previous show that was originally distributed by Netflix. While they have the free license to enhance the brutal scenes under Netflix, the new show appeared to exceed that, at least as teased by the show’s one of the central cast, Vincent D’Onofrio who plays Kingpin. In his recent chat with Rotten Tomatoes TV appearing alongside his co-stars Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson, the actor gave us an insight into the tonality of the upcoming Disney+ show.

“There are some things in this show that are we go much further with than we did on the original show. There’s one thing in particular that my character does, yeah, that I can’t believe made it into the cut which was what but it did,” Vincent D’Onofrio said.

In the common and generic perception, Disney seemingly avoids graphic and extremely violent scenes. However, the change is on the air as Disney has finally given the nod to their projects to resonate with creative endeavors rather than censoring to a level that would deviate the crux of the content they produce.

Vincent D’Onofrio Teased That Daredevil: Born Again Will Be Grounded

In the age of multiversal narratives across the superhero genre, fans are seemingly looking for something street-level to refresh their love and enthusiasm for the genre that has been getting popular with time. The celestial narratives in the genre work but it has also been a hit and a miss with certain projects with a rising phenomenon called “superhero fatigue.” Marvel Studios also faced the wrath of it with some of their projects including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. Now, a street-level narrative like Daredevil: Born Again will give fans a fresher take that they have wanted for long.

“If I may, there’s some scenes in our episodes this season that breach that kind of superhero world,” D’Onofrio said of the show. He further added that the upcoming Disney+ series will be grounded and pure drama.

SUGGESTED: It’s Official, Charlie Cox Finally Confirms New Suit For Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

“You know, our show is very grounded, right? So it leaves us the opportunity to be able to do straight-up drama. There’s nothing magical about it, no spaceships—we can do drama. There’s a particular thing that goes on between the two of them (Daredevil and Punisher), a well-written scene, that is just pure drama in its highest form as far as I’m concerned. The two of them in it are super interesting characters. What they bring to it as actors is amazing, and the text is just wonderful to watch.”

Daredevil: Born Again has perfectly created the hype and fans are eagerly waiting for the show to hit Disney+. Cox confirmed that they have wrapped filming and the show is now in the post-production.

Daredevil: Born Again is expected to hit Disney+ in 2025.
