MCU cameos have always fascinated fans throughout the history of the superhero cinematic universe. While several Marvel movies pulled off a few absolute stunners and hilarious cameos in the past, Deadpool & Wolverine went on to the next level in their attempt to surpass the greatest cameos of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their Spider-Man versions in the multiversal Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Shawn Levy who co-wrote, directed, and produced Deadpool & Wolverine recently told Esquire that his favorite Marvel cameo is not from his movie. “Wow, um, certainly like the rest of the world, I love seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in No Way Home,” the director said answering a query.
“But I think, you know, I loved Matt Damon in Ragnarok when he first appeared. I love that a, I just loved Matt Damon ever since Good Will Hunting. That guy’s just the but I just found that to be so…”
Matt Damon‘s cameo in Thor: Ragnarok will always be one of the funniest cameos of all time among fans. Damon played the Loki actor in a play called The Tragedy of Loki of Asgard in the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine has unexpected and several funny cameos in the movie. While Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine for the first time was itself a huge headline grabber, revelations of cameos have a lot more stored in there. In a way, Deadpool & Wolverine is the penultimate fan service film giving almost everything we all need.
“If you’re working at Disney, if you’re working with the MCU, you have access to the greatest toy chest there is. The difficult part is being disciplined so that you’re not just saying yes to every cameo, yes to every Easter egg. If you do too much of that, the audience isn’t going to invest in the story,” Levy said (via Walt Disney Company). “The challenge and the only difficult thing was resisting temptation, so that we were always adhering to the central story, which is these two characters,” he added.
Of course, it was the swift course of adding the action sequences where multiple multiversal cameos appeared with the narrative balance without overdoing anything, was definitely a treat. Every cameo has been quite spectacular and left an impact on the narrative while adhering to the nostalgia treat.
