Deadpool is one of the most fascinating and remarkable characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, the character first appeared in New Mutants #98 published in December 1990. After years of evolution, Wade Wilson/Deadpool appeared in the Hugh Jackman/Logan spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Certainly, the treatment of the character was not up to the mark. It wasn’t until Tim Miller’s 2016 Deadpool, that the character got the deserved treatment and Ryan Reynolds’ titular character was a hit ever since.

Liefeld who is also famous for his inability to draw feet in his comics, featured the same trait as his sign ‘Liefeld’s just feet’ appeared in a scene in the trailer of the movie. Regardless, the comic creator was too excited to see his creation in live-action. Taking to X, Liefeld complemented the action of the movie, “My work looks so good in live action! Great movement!

Certainly, the action sequences have been hilarious and entertaining in Deadpool & Wolverine with a promise for more bangers in theaters.

Marvel Studios has produced several action flicks with quite spectacles but only a few deserved the long-time shout-out. For Leifeld, Deadpool & Wolverine has produced some of the greatest action sequences since Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

“I’ll tell what gives me a kick, 2 weeks ago, Kevin Feige took the stage at CinemaCon to promote Captain America and repeatedly told everyone that New World Order evoked the same spirit and feel as Winter Soldier,” Leifeld wrote on X.

He went on to add, “I say that the action scenes/stunts in Deadpool & Wolverine are as good as Winter Soldier and the internet blows up. Wasn’t expecting that to be the hot take of the week.”

Deadpool & Wolverine has been a constant buzz creator since the movie was announced. With several leaks and rumors, the movie trailer has finally landed providing acute details of where the movie is heading while wrapping up the curiosity of the huge storyline and future of the the duo.

While Deadpool is one of the most popular Marvel characters, some believe that the development of the character as we know it today, came much later after Liefeld sold Deadpool to Marvel. An X user took to X claiming that the initial design was done by Liefeld, “but the character himself was given an actual personality and backstory years after Rob initially drew him a handful of times.”

Liefeld responded to the comment with a clarification saying, “NOPE.” He went on to add, “Let’s put this shit to rest permanently for all the disgruntled’s in the cheap seats.”

“I didn’t sell a costume design to Marvel when I sold Deadpool. I SOLD A CHARACTER. A name, an origin story, a motivation, a vocation and a winning personality with a smart ass tinge just like me. I know for [100%] certain you weren’t in the room where it happened, so maybe jump off and sit with all the other haters and their myths.”

Of course, Liefeld created a legacy worth celebrating. Deadpool has become one of the most loved characters in the history of the MCU, thanks to Reynolds, the character thrived.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit the theaters on July 26.
