Marvel Studios has been on the constant buzz recently, primarily with the leaked updates and rumors based on the executive decisions from the studios or Disney. While the animated series X-Men ’97 is all set to debut on Disney+, Marvel Studios’ production & development executive, Brad Winderbaum recently addressed strategies for MCU’s television department.
Disney+ In The Race With Other Streamers
Streaming giants including Netflix and Prime Video have already asserted their domination in the streaming business. While Disney+ is preferably new and in its early stages, the platform needs more content to keep the audience in the loop. The road is long but the streamer has one strength, Marvel Studios to back it up. Before the dawn of Disney+, Marvel Studios released its content on Netflix which includes Daredevil.
Speaking with ComicBook.Com’s Phase Zero podcast, Brad Winderbaum explained what Marvel Studios is cooking.
“I mean, frankly, in all honesty, there was a mandate to kind of create as much as we could for Disney+ as quickly as we could. And then there was a shift. And all of a sudden, we have to start spreading our release dates out. So, that really accounts for a lot of the delays. Now, we’re using that time. We’re not sitting idle. So, it’s like it stays in the oven. You can bake certain things a little more. It’s actually, I think, ultimately, it’s only going to make things better. But, most of it is just frankly shrapnel from the business.”
Disney+ is embracing the shift and is ready to fill new and exciting content on the platform. Certainly, exclusive MCU content elevates the demand of the streamer but the addition of more has to be the target.
Marvel Studios Means Business, Bringing New Characters Including Nova
On the cinematic front, Marvel Studios has been successful since the dawn of the superhero brand. However, the studio has been dazed by the recent failure of a few projects including the sequel of the 2019 blockbuster Captain Marvel. A recent report indicated that the studio is being careful with its upcoming slates. Amid the recent rumors and leaks, Winderbaum revealed one positive update of Nova after long-time speculations. He revealed:
“We have a new system behind-the-scenes at Marvel Studios. We’re more like a traditional studio now. We’re developing more than we actually will produce. There are plans to develop Nova. I love Nova, too. I love Rich Rider, too. I hope it gets to the screen. The world is always chaos. There’s always things. You gotta conjure these things to make them happen but I would love to see a Nova show, one day.”
SUGGESTED: MCU Is Eyeing On Nova Debut As Exec Confirmed Development, Here’s What We Know So Far
Nova’s MCU debut would be a game-changer for the studio, the character has been under discussion for quite a while. The rumors of Ryan Gosling being considered for Nova also make another hypothesis that the studio might look for an A-lister face. Regardless, as of now, it is hard to speculate where Nova would make his MCU debut. But considering his prowess and being one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, the studio might opt for his Multiversal saga entrance into the cinematic landscape.
