Charlie Cox is wearing a new suit for the upcoming Marvel series for Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again. The show has been one of the highly anticipated Marvel projects since its announcement and fairly maintained the hype. Previously leaked images from the series set have given fans a glimpse of Cox’s costume and a few other characters. So, Cox is not afraid to discuss his new costume at all.
Charlie Cox Confirms New Suit For Daredevil
In the recent D23 Expo, much of Disney’s projects including their sister companies such as Marvel Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox, were announced and teased. Attendees got a better look at Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World’s Red Hulk, but the Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again also got highlighting attention. Following the event, the major cast of the series sat down for a chat with Rotten Tomatoes TV, and Charlie Cox who plays the title character Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, didn’t hesitate to reveal that he indeed got a new costume for the show which will be quite different than the previous show that was originally distributed by Netflix.
“I have a new costume. You asked about costume,” Cox said. However, his co-star Vincent D’Onofrio who plays villainous Kingpin was surprised thinking if Cox was allowed to share that as he gave a shocking look. “I’m, it’s on the internet don’t look at me like that, uh, gave me a heart attack. It’s, it’s all over the internet. I have a new costume, it wasn’t just me out on the town in the red.”
Cox’s new costume was a viral hit after it was leaked on the internet earlier this year which was very different from the Netflix show. Also, it is fair to assume that Marvel Studios has tried different versions of the suit as Cox’s Daredevil costume in his cameo appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was also very different from the other iterations. Regardless, fans will get to see Cox in his new Daredevil suit which is a little more reddish than the previous version.
Do You Have To Remember/ Rewatch Original Daredevil Show?
Cox also gave us insights into one of the most asked questions about the new show’s connection to the previous hit series. “What we’re trying to do with the show is tread a very careful line between playing the hits,” Cox said of the upcoming Marvel show.
“Getting the ingredients that we had that made the show work previously, but also not alienating a new audience. You don’t have to remember everything that happened with all the characters from the previous show, so that we hopefully can attract a new audience and also welcome back our returning fans.”
The actor also commented on the tonality of the series, “Tonally, from what we’ve shot—we haven’t seen much in editing yet, but we’ve finished shooting—from what we’ve shot, it feels like we have honored the dark tone of the original show, and that’s very exciting and important to us.”
Of course, the dark tone would go along the comic book, “I feel like it’s one of the things that makes this character work so well. Certainly, it’s what I believe is why the character works so well in the comics, when they embrace that darker tone. That’s an exciting space on Disney Plus,” Cox added.
Daredevil: Born Again also stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blade, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page with several exciting casts playing exciting roles.
Daredevil: Born Again is expected to hit Disney+ in 2025.
