Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and many cameos will hopefully propel MCU’s recent draught phase. The studios is very much hopeful, and why would not they! From the day 1, it’s on trend. Recently, as promised, tickets for the movie are on sale. The actor duo and director Shawn Levy have started promoting the only Marvel movie of 2024. In a recent interview, while discussing his role of Wolverine, Jackman and Reynolds shared some funny anecdotes.
Hugh Jackman Reveals the Unexpected Reason Behind His Wolverine Return
Hugh Jackman, the iconic actor behind Wolverine, has finally shed light on what brought him back to the role after a heartfelt goodbye in 2017’s Logan. While fans mourned the seemingly permanent departure, Jackman himself had repeatedly assured everyone his time as the clawed mutant was over.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the character’s first solo outing in 2009, fell short of expectations. Thankfully, Jackman received a redemption arc with The Wolverine and Logan, forming a more satisfying trilogy for the character. So, what changed Jackman’s mind? Enter Ryan Reynolds, the ever-enthusiastic Deadpool.
Reynolds managed to persuade Jackman to return as Wolverine for the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine. In an interview with Fandango, Jackman discussed the factors that influenced his decision to revisit the Marvel Universe. Jackman revealed the surprising reason behind his return to the Marvel Universe. It wasn’t necessarily a grand plan or a hefty paycheck; it was a sudden urge.
Jackman described a moment of clarity that led to his decision to return: “I was on my way – I was just driving-– and literally just like a bolt of lightning came this knowing, deep in my gut, that I wanted to do this film with Ryan…for Deadpool and Wolverine to come together,” he shared. “And I swear to you, when I said I was done I really thought I was done.“
Despite his previous commitments, Jackman had always felt that teaming up with Deadpool would be a hit with fans. “But, in the back of my head, ever since I saw Deadpool 1, I was like ‘Those two characters together…’ I knew it: I knew the fans wanted it. Ever since I put on the claws fans have talked about these two, so that had always been there, but I just knew.“
Jackman’s enthusiasm was so strong, he couldn’t wait to make it official. “I literally could not wait to arrive; as soon as I arrived I rang Ryan and I said ‘Let’s do it.’ Like, I hadn’t rung my agent, no one,” he added. “I had to ring my agent [after] and say ‘Oh, by the way, I’ve just committed to a movie.’ [Laughs].“
Reynolds, ever the jokester, chimed in with a playful jab: “The year before he stopped his car, called me and said I should stop playing Deadpool.”
With such a strong desire from both actors and the undeniable enthusiasm from fans, the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be a highly anticipated cinematic event.
