Henry Cavill Opened Up about Joining MCU
Hollywood heartthrob Henry Cavill, synonymous with Superman in the DC Universe, has expressed interest in joining the rival Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In an interview with THR, Cavill outlined his ideal scenario for a potential superhero switch.
While acknowledging the stellar performances of existing MCU actors, Cavill emphasized his respect for their work, stating, “I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone’s doing such an amazing job.” When asked which Marvel character he would like to play, he cited Captain Britain as his preferred choice.
This seemingly throws shade on rumors linking him to the iconic Wolverine character, currently portrayed by Hugh Jackman. However, it remains unclear if being linked to such an iconic mutant character might hinder him from playing a different Marvel hero in the future.
While both Marvel Studios and Cavill himself have yet to officially confirm any involvement, speculations are fueled by the recent Deadpool & Wolverine teaser trailer, hinting towards a multiversal storyline within the MCU. This opens the door for Cavill’s potential entry into the franchise, though the specific character he might portray remains to be seen.
Deadpool & Wolverine opens in theaters on July 26, 2024.
