Marvel Studios has recently faced a major setback with a few big and small screen releases. While Brie Larson’s 2019 solo Captain Marvel made a promising case grossing over $1 billion and making room for one or more potential sequels, the second installment has failed miserably. It was a box office disaster while receiving mixed responses from critics.
Reportedly Marvel Studios Has Canceled Captain Marvel 3 And Ant-Man 4
The Marvels is not the only movie to face the utter wrath of box office disaster, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly-starrer Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also sank. Now, a recent report reveals that Marvel Studios has canceled the development of the potential sequels of Captain Marvel 3 and Ant-Man 4.
As per the industry insider Daniel Richtman, the two potential sequels have been butchered by the studio, (via, The Hollywood Handle) as Marvel Studios is not up for risky projects and moving toward more guaranteed hits. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has not responded to it so far.
This is another clear indication of the fact that many potential Marvel Movies may never see the day of light. Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels was made with a whopping $206.1 million but earned only $274.8 million at the global box office which was a significant decline from the first blockbuster installment.
Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also spent $200 million while earning $476.1 million globally. Ant-Man 3 was also a serious decline from its previous installment which earned $519 million and $622 million, respectively.

They can keep Ant-Man 4, but I’d like to see where they go with a 3rd Captain Marvel. That little team is currently one of the best they have as far as interest and chemistry.
They can’t possibly think Thor 5 is a safer bet than CM3.

A captain marvel 3 or ant-man 4 would succeed if they had a good story. All that movies is about is stories, and whether it’s a good story or not aka a good movie or not would reflect on the box office. If people went and watched a movie and it was good they would tell their…

Despite flopping at the box office, The Marvels did well on the small screens. The movie topped as it was marked as the most-watched film on any streaming service with 558 million minutes watched (per, Nielsen chart). While Ant-Man 3 was not played on as many screens as The Marvels, the movie still holds prominence as it was key to the coming stories in the MCU.
The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are available to stream on Disney+.
