James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman movie is on a fast track and several leaked photos from the set revealed stunning details of the movie. David Corenswet, who leads playing the titular title character has however sparked mixed feelings among fans recently primarily regarding his suit. Now, a series of photos of Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner have divided fans because of their costume but there is a reason why their costume looks so different.
New Leaked Photos From James Gunn’s Superman Set Reveal Hawkgirl And Guy Gardner Suits
After the leaked photos of David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and a few characters, the first look of Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl sparked a wave of discussion among fans. DC Boss James Gunn helms Superman— one of the most anticipated DC movies— will follow a different storyline for Superman, potentially keeping the tone of the narrative Earthly rather than celestial.

The leaked photos of the previous stars in the set also created a huge debate among fans and it all comes down to the costume. While costumes of Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific and Brosnahan’s Lois Lane were appreciated by fans, many still debate over Corenswet vs Henry Cavill costume.
Now, as the first look of Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner’s costumes came to public attention, rattled most DC fans as these characters look very different than any appearances in popular media. Of course, the suits of every star are quite baggy but another aspect to keep in mind is that the final rendering of the costumes would be very different from what we have seen on set. Regardless, fans now have a tentative idea of where the narrative of Gunn might be heading.
Why Hawkgirl And Guy Gardner Suits Look Different?
Hawkgirl And Guy Gardner Suits are not what fans have previously seen. Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner’s version of Green Lantern, in James Gunn’s Superman, may have a different role than what was previously anticipated, at least at the beginning of the movie.
Confirmed.

Looking closely at the costumes of Hawkgirl And Guy Gardner costume a similar logo is visible which seemingly establishes the connection of the duo with Maxwell Lord— a classic supervillain in DC Comics, reportedly played by the director’s brother Sean Gunn in the upcoming film. Following the logo, it is fair to assume that Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, and Guy Gardner are working for LordTech under Maxwell Lord. Also, their costumes are quite similar indicating the same theory.
Regardless, the leaked photos have extended the hype of the movie. Gunn also reacted to the photos by answering a fan on Threads, “Fully expected.” However, the director assured that none of the leaked images contain any major spoiler, “Not even a little. I’d never shoot a big spoiler outside in the middle of the city.”
The director also debunked the Milly Alcock rumor as it was recently reported that the Supergirl actor was in Cleveland for the Superman movie. To that, Gunn said, “Nope. Never has been here unless she’s vacationing in the CLE and hasn’t told me!”
Further, a recent report stated that iconic Superman star Christopher Reeve’s son Will Reeve will appear in the Gunn-directed movie for a cameo.
Superman is scheduled for July 11, 2025 release.
