DCU’s Iinaugural film Superman has found its Pa Kent. Pruitt Taylor Vince will play Superman’s adopted father, Jonathan Kent, aka Pa Kent in DC’s reboot. Taylor Vince is known for his roles in TV shows such as The X-Files, The Walking Dead, and Stranger Things.
Pruitt Taylor Vince Will Play Pa Kent in James Gunn’s Superman
According to an exclusive report by The Wrap, Pruitt Taylor Vince will be playing Jonathan Kent, Clark’s adoptive father, in James Gunn’s Superman.
Taylor Vince previously won an Emmy for his role as Clifford Banks in the 1997 American legal drama, Murder One. Most recently, he was seen as Rick in Bird Box, Angelo Ruggiero in Gotti, and Grill in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As Pa Kent’s character is also confirmed, he will join Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, David Corenswet in the title role, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Wendell Pierce as Daily Planet Editor Perry White, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Taylor Vince has already become a part of superhero genre movies as he played the role of Father Hennessy in the Keanu Reeves-led Constantine. However, Pa Kent is a bigger role here and it has much significance in Superman’s lore.
Jonathan Kent with his wife are farmers in a small town of Smallville and they adopt the infant Kal-El when he crash lands on Earth from Krypton, and raise him as their son.
What Is Superman About?
“Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Few days back, James Gunn debunked all the rumors regarding the villain in the movie and said that Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor will indeed be the main antagonist in the upcoming Superman film.
The studio has started filming in Svalbard, Norway. He also teased that DC is “almost ready” to show it to us even though there is lots of work to be done.
Superman is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
