DC Studios is adding a live-action film adaptation of Teen Titans to its newly rebooted cinematic universe with screenwriter Ana Nogueira set to write the feature. Nogueira, an actor and playwright, has been involved with DC for several years, having been tapped to write a Supergirl movie for the previous regime. However, the project was scrapped after James Gunn and Peter Safran took on leadership roles, leading to a rebooted continuity of DC Comics adaptations. The relationship with Nogueira is continuing to grow with Teen Titans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios is moving forward with a Titans movie. The project has been rumored for some time now but appears to already have a writer attached in the form of Ana Nogueira.

DC Studios has confirmed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow alongside their first slate of announced features, which will begin with Superman on July 11, 2025. The Teen Titans film is a new development, not part of the initial group of confirmed projects, which include adaptations of the Batman arc The Brave and the Bold, a horror-forward take on Swamp Thing, and an antihero team-up film The Authority.

The Teen Titans, a group of superpowered young heroes led by Robin alongside Raven, Cyborg, Starfire and Beast Boy, were introduced in the 1960s and have since spawned two animated series adaptations for Cartoon Network: the anime-influenced Teen Titans in the aughts and the absurdist-comedic Teen Titans Go!, which is still running since 2013 and has also spawned a theatrical feature adaptation in 2018, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.

At present no information is available on the potential timeline for the film’s production or release date. With Nogueira presumably still wrapping up the Supergirl script, Teen Titans would more than likely be her next project.

A Brief About the Teen Titans

Teen Titans

The Teen Titans are a superhero team from DC Comics, consisting of teenage superheroes who have acted as sidekicks to DC’s Justice League heroes. The original team, formed in 1964, was initially known as the Titans when members grew out of their teenage years. The team later adopted the name ‘Teen Titans’ in issue 60, with the addition of Wonder Girl.

DC has relaunched Teen Titans multiple times over the years, featuring various characters such as Speedy, Aquagirl, Bumblebee, Hawk, Dove, Harlequin, and three non-costumed heroes. The 1980s revival as The New Teen Titans introduced new characters like Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy, who became enduring fan favorites. The series’ most critical and commercial success was its The Judas Contract storyline, where the Teen Titans are betrayed by their teammate Terra. The series’ success was largely due to its unique and enduring fan-favorite storyline.

In the 1990s, the Teen Titans team consisted of new members before returning in the series Titans, which ran from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. In the 2000s, a different team was introduced, featuring new DC Comics sidekicks like Robin III, Wonder Girl II, Impulse/Kid Flash II, Superboy, and others from Young Justice. Notable additions from this era included Miss Martian, Ravager, Supergirl, Kid Devil, and Blue Beetle III.

DC published Titans in 2011, featuring original and 1980s members as adults, led by Dick Grayson as Nightwing. The New 52 reboot in 2011 introduced new characters, but was commercially and critically disappointing. In 2016, DC used the Titans Hunt and DC Rebirth storylines to re-establish the group’s original founding members and history, reuniting them as the Titans and introducing a new generation of Teen Titans led by Robin V, Aqualad II, and Kid Flash III, along with Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy.
