Will Smith is getting back to the cinematic landscape in Hollywood again with a promising installment to his hit franchise Bad Boys starring alongside Martin Lawrence. Following King Richards, the actor was absent from the cinematic limelight after his Oscar slap controversy as Smith rushed onto the stage and slapped the host Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022. Of course, Smith won his first Oscar on the same night for his performance in King Richards.

Will Smith has a legendary career to his credit including Ali, I Am Legend, Men in Black franchise, Bad Boys franchise. Also, the actor enjoyed the heydays in Hollywood being one of the most sought-after actors but his career took a dark turn following his controversial Oscar event. Smith has made several bad decisions in the past even with movies which include After Earth starring alongside his son Jaden Smith. The M. Night Shyamalan-directed movie is the lowest-rated flick in his career with just a 12% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Like almost every actor in Hollywood, Smith also had his ups and downs, particularly with movies. After Earth’s critical and commercial failure does not define his legendary career spanning close to 38 years. The Oscar winner recently revealed his best career-defining movies during his promotional tour of the latest addition to the Bad Boys franchise, Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

Appearing on the recent episode of Hot Ones on First We Feast, Smith first had the test of spicey hot food, and amid that, the actor revealed his best movies that made him Will Smith we know today.

Will Smith has been one of the box-office magnets but most of his films also elevated the prowess of the actor. For Smith, as he revealed on the Hot Ones episode, The Pursuit of Happyness starring alongside his son Jaden Smith tops the list of the best movies of his career. Smith claimed an Oscar nod for his role in Gabriele Muccino’s emotion-packed melodrama. “I think the best individual movie, all around, that I’ve ever made is The Pursuit of Happyness,” Smith said.

The actor further named a few movies which also contributed a great deal to define his career as an actor. “Right behind that is the first Men In Black. The direction, cinematography and music,” Smith said of Barry Sonnenfeld-directed 1997 movie Men in Black which also stars Tommy Lee Jones.

The Ali star further revealed that he had most fun making Bad Boys and Aladdin. “I think among them the most fun I’ve ever had making a movie is, like, Bad Boys and Aladdin, like, just the most, the most fun… If I had to put four of them in a time capsule it would be The Pursuit of Happyness, the first Men In Black, I Am Legend,” he added.

The actor also hailed Reinaldo Marcus Green’s acclaimed movie, King Richards where he played Richard Williams, the father of tennis legends, Serena and Venus Williams, “and probably King Richard,” he concluded.

The Pursuit of Happyness chronicles the tale of single father Chris Gardner and his son, evicted from their apartment but Gardner’s struggle to make the life of his son better carrying the thematic essence of hope makes the movie emotional. Many dubbed the movie as one of the most inspirational movies of all time.

Stream The Pursuit of Happyness on Pluto TV, TNT, TBS, and Tru TV.  Bad Boys: Ride or Die is now showing in theaters.
