Following Daniel Craig’s exit as James Bond, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s name is on the top of the rumored potential actor to play that iconic role. It’s true that Henry Cavill is still a fan-favorite, but according to a report by the British news outlet The Sun, Taylor-Johnson has been offered the role by the studio and it’s in his court to take the decision. However, no confirmation from either him or the production house has come out so far. Amidst all these, former James Bond Pierce Brosnan has weighed on Taylor-Johnson saying that he would definitely tip his hat to him.

Addressing the rumor of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the potential James Bond, former Bond star Pierce Brosnan has spoken on the rumored casting. During an interview with The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1, Brosnan, who worked with Aaron Taylor-Johnson in The Greatest (2009) nods his support to his former co-star for the 007 role from Daniel Craig.

I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so,” Brosnan said of Taylor-Johnson.

So, yes, I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow,” he added, citing that he was “the greatest” in Shana Feste’s film The Greatest

One of the first movies we made, one of the earliest movies, was The Greatest. And he was the greatest in it,” he said.

Brosnan also got some advice for Taylor-Johnson if he wishes to play the role.

Be bold. Go out there. Have a great time.

Just love it,” he said. “Just go for it. You can do it.”

As 007, Pierce starred in four Bond movies – GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (1999). He then passed on the torch to Daniel Craig, who played the popular spy all the way till No Time To Die (2021). And, the hunt for the role has been on since then.

Before saying that Aaron Taylor-Johnson has “the charisma to play Bond,” Brosnan previously said that it should be none other than Oscar winner Cillian Murphy who would do a magnificent job as Bond.

Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service,” Brosnan told the BBC

Meanwhile, Murphy told Variety at the Oscar Wilde Awards that “I’m a bit old for that. I will say I think that ship has sailed.”

It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be. Whoever he be, I wish him well,” Brosnan previously told GQ

It’s an iconic role and the production house has the pressure of meeting the expectations of the fans. So, it’s certain that they are taking time to finalize who’s going to be the next Bond, James Bond.

The James Bond franchise can either be streamed on Hulu or Prime Video.
