Kevin Spacey’s description of his day-to-day life is stark. “I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” he told The Telegraph. “I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.” The actor admitted his financial situation is “not great,” adding that bankruptcy had even been “discussed,” though it “never got to” that point.
The actor says the fallout from the accusations, which he has always denied, has come at an enormous personal cost. “The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” he said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.” He once lived in Baltimore, but he lost that home as legal battles stacked up and roles evaporated.
Despite the turmoil, Spacey appears determined to rebuild his life. “You get through it,” he said, framing the moment as a strange return to his early hustle.
“In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was.”
Spacey was accused by more than 30 men, including actor Anthony Rapp, of se*ual misconduct. He was later found not liable in Rapp’s civil lawsuit in 2022 and acquitted of se*ually assaulting four men in a 2023 UK trial. With the legal chapter closed, Spacey believes the public sees him differently from the media. “I have always felt the public was on my side,” he said. “I have always been enormously grateful for that.”

As he pushes for a comeback, Spacey has taken an unexpected path, performing live shows across Europe. Last weekend, he took the stage in Cyprus, singing classics like That’s Life and Bridge Over Troubled Water at a packed nightclub. Tickets cost up to €1,200, and fans traveled from across Europe to see him. This variety-show format, a mix of stories and songs, serves as his way of reconnecting with audiences while rebuilding a public identity once defined by secrecy.
The American Beauty actor said he can no longer allow himself “to be baselessly attacked” without defending his record. “I take full responsibility for my past behavior and my actions,” he said.
“But I cannot and will not take responsibility or apologize to anyone who’s made up stuff about me or exaggerated stories about me.”
Spacey insists there are industry insiders rooting for his return. “We are in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work,” he said. Still, he believes the industry is waiting for a respected figure to publicly back him. “If Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call Evan tomorrow, it will be over.”
For now, Kevin Spacey remains a man without a home but not without resolve. “Everything is in storage,” he said. “And I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”
