The Fall Guy, an upcoming action-comedy movie starring Ryan Gosling is releasing this May. David Leitch’s The Fall Guy promises some intense action with impressive stunts. Ryan Gosling starrer this movie also includes Oppenheimer star Emily Blunt who plays a movie director, Jody Moreno. And she said that her role is loosely inspired by Barbie director Greta Gerwig.
Emily Blunt Is Inspired to Play Director’s Role In The Fall Guy From Greta Gerwig
Seeing the official trailer of The Fall Guy, it looks like the summer will start well. The trailer shows some intense sequences and fans hope that the movie will do well.
Emily Blunt plays a director named Jody Moreno whose leading man goes missing. Then appears Ryan Gosling’s stunt performer, Colt Seavers, who happened to be Jody’s ex to find the leading man.
In a recent interview with Total Film, the Oppenheimer actress shared that her character is loosely inspired by Gerwig. “With the warmth and the charm, I guess there’s a little Greta in there,” Blunt said. “She was a mix of a few other people I’d met and pulled from.”
Kelly McCormick, producing partner and wife of director David Leitch said:
Emily’s role was a make-up artist “when we sold it, and we converted it to first-time directing right before we gave her a very rough draft. It made it feel like [the character] had more pressure on her.”
“We all kind of built her together, because I think, maybe in the original script, she was quite severe, and that sort of tough director,” the Edge of Tomorrow actress said. “But I think, for me, it’s always more interesting to play someone who’s in a situation where they’re way over their head.”
Greta Gerwig who has already cemented her name as an icon the industry showed what she can bring to the big screen with Barbie, which has grossed $1.446 billion at the worldwide box office.
What Will The Fall Guy Be About?
Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt and Aaron Taylor Johnson starrer The Fall Guy will highlight the stunt community. The movie pays homage to Hollywood stunt performers. This movie is the film adaptation of Glen A. Larson’s 1980s TV series of the same name.
David Leitch, who started his career in the film industry as a stunt double for Brad Pitt said,
“We wanted to give the audience a little bit of a taste of it here and to see that we were gonna be doing practical stunts in the film.” And again “the unsung heroes of action movies are these performers,” he added.
The film revolves around a stuntman Colt Seavers, who after leaving the industry to focus more on his physical and mental health called back into action to find the leading man of his ex’s directorial movie.
The Fall Guy will hit the theaters on May 3, 2024.
