Warning: This article contains MINOR SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine. Channing Tatum’s dream is finally fulfilled after fighting years of battle to wear the Gambit suit in a solo movie, but it never happened until now. Ryan Reynolds is one to thank for most of Deadpool & Wolverine cameos and the Magic Mike star rejoiced the moment of his cameo with a lengthy post on X sharing two photos with Reynolds that are ten years apart.

Channing Tatum’s love story with Gambit is fascinating. The actor and his producing partner Reid Carolin fought very hard to bring the titular mutant onto the screen under the banner of 20th Century Fox, however, despite the hard-fought battles for the character, his dream role was crushed to the ground following the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox. But years later, Tatum finally got to wear the suit in a cameo in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led Deadpool & Wolverine.

“These pictures are almost 10 years apart to the day,” Tatum wrote on X celebrating his nostalgic moment with Reynolds 10 years ago at San Diego Comic Cons. “I sat in the audience when Ryan Reynolds showed his first peek of Deadpool 1 to the world and I think I ran back stage right after and found him and I think I just hugged him and was like holy shit you did it man. It’s perfect. I didn’t know him really at all back then,” he added.
It was certainly a stunning coincidence meeting Reynolds nearly a decade ago during his first Deadpool movie sneak peek and now meeting him as co-star fulfilling Tatum’s long-time dream. Additionally, the 44-year-old was also wearing an almost identical Gambit t-shirt a decade ago matching his new t-shirt with a slightly different print color.
Channing Tatum Thanks Ryan Reynolds

Reynolds certainly deserves the thanks as he is primarily responsible for making most of the scripted cameos a reality. Tatum thanked the Deadpool star for making his dream come true.
“But since then I can say that there is almost no one that has had my back in this industry more than @VancityReynolds. I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But he fought for me and Gambit. I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy,” he wrote on X.

The actor also thanked Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy. “@ShawnLevyDirect as well. Truly such a brilliant creator on every single level.” Adding further he hailed the movie wishing it great success, “all things happen for a reason. I’m so grateful to be in this movie. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. And just pure bad a*s joy. I was literally screaming in the theater. LFG!!”
Tatum recently had a rough bump in his career as his recent ambitious romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon failed to make a dent at the box office despite having Scarlett Johansson and Woody Harrelson on board.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now showing in theaters.
