Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder must have done something spectacular in the Showtime series The Curse to impress Christopher Nolan. Of course, Nolan is a fan of several surprising movies and shows which include the Fast and Furious franchise but The Curse is something that baffled the director propelling him to text one of the creators to complement one particular scene.
Emma Stone And Nathan Fielder-Starrer The Curse Baffled Christopher Nolan
Cristopher Nolan’s legacy is unmatched, as the director cracked the code for delivering blockbusters while not moving away from being the critical darling for every movie he has directed so far. The director also enjoys others’ works when he is not busy crafting his story for the next picture. Nolan has texted one of The Curse creators for a scene in the final episode of the show.
Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder-starrer Showtime comedy series The Curse has been a critical hit as the show went on to claim an astonishing 94% Rotten Tomatoes score. Stone and Fielder also pushed to their limit to make the show work. In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the duo discussed their stunt works that took a toll on them.
“Certainly, we shot that episode the longest, by far. The stunts were out of control. It was the most intense stunts I’ve ever done. Should we explain how we did it, or no?” Stone said in the interview.
Fielder who also co-created the show joined the conversation adding, “You can’t tell that, for a lot of it, Emma is actually on the ceiling, strapped to it.” Stone responded recalling her state dunning filming the final episode of the show, “I’m upside down.”
“And it drags her head back. They were saying she can’t be up there for more than a minute, or she’ll get spine issues,” Fielder added.
The stunt guy of the show was also surprised by the commitment of the duo “And our stunt guy was like, ‘We can’t let Nathan stay up there for more than four minutes because the blood is rushing to his head so much that he’s going to pass out.’ But you were there for seven minutes at a time. You were purple. It was so incredible,” Stone said.
The final episode of the show, Green Queen was quite expensive to film but it was certainly worth it. Even Nolan was taken aback after watching the show. One of the best things “was when Benny said that Christopher Nolan texted him and was like, ‘How did you guys do that?’”
The Curse was written and created by Fielder and Benny Safdie.
Christopher Nolan Is A Huge Fan Of The Curse
The Oppenheimer director revealed that The Curse is “unlike anything I’ve ever seen on television before,” the renowned director said in a Q&A with the show’s creators at Showtime. “I think the show is incredible,” he added.
“There are so few shows that come along that genuinely have no precedents,” Nolan shared detailing his liking for the show. “I mean, you’re going back to things like ‘Twin Peaks’ or ‘The Prisoner’ or Dennis Potter’s ‘Singing Detective’ — things like that. So you’re in an amazing space, and I can’t wait for audiences to catch up with the climax.”
Nolan went on to add, “Congratulations on an incredible show that’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen on television before. There are so few shows that come along that genuinely have no precedence.”
Stone and Fielder starred as a married couple in the black comedy. Interestingly, Safdie also stars in the show. The Curse also stars Constance Shulman, Hikmah Warsame, Dahabo Ahmed, Christopher Calderón, Barkhad Abdi, Gary Farmer and Nizhonniya Luxi Austin.
The Curse is now streaming on Fubo TV and Paramount+ bundles.
