Carrie Fisher’s The Big Bang Theory cameo was a treat for every Star Wars fan. But for the actor, it was a moment of joy as she was united with her Star Wars fellow actor James Earl Jones— the iconic voice behind Darth Vader.
Carrie Fisher’s The Big Bang Theory Cameo United Her With James Earl Jones
Late Star Wars actor, Carrie Fisher is without a doubt one of the icons of the glorious franchise. Fisher made her Star Wars debut in George Lucas’ 1977 space adventure hit Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope as Princess Leia alongside Mark Hamill (who also made a brilliant The Big Bang Theory cameo) and Harrison Ford. Of course, Star Wars or any other popular movie franchise (especially sci-fi) has been the primary source of discussion among the nerds— Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), Johnny Galecki’s Leonard Hofstadter, Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), Kunal Nayyar’s Rajesh Koothrappali, and sometimes Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman). The obsession of the nerds with Star Wars and other hit franchises has propelled the ultimate treatment for fans to enjoy.
Fisher appeared as herself in the 14th episode of the seventh season, The Convention Conundrum in the Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady-created hit CBS show. But interestingly, the episode also introduced James Earl Jones and it was their first meeting despite both the legendary actors creating a legacy in the Star Wars franchise. The duo, however, never physically shared the screen as the live-action version of Darth Vader was played by English actor David Prowse, and Jones later gave his voice. We are glad that The Big Bang Theory has united the Star Wars legends.
The Convention Conundrum— Sheldon Cooper Meets James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher
In his attempt to create his own comic book convention, Sheldon Cooper surprisingly met the man behind Darth Vader, James Earl Jones in a sushi restaurant in the episode titled The Convention Conundrum. Sheldon who usually gets restraining orders from his favorite celebrities, received a warm welcome from Jones and asked him to join him. Later Jones asked Sheldon to visit Fisher’s house to have a prank on her.
For Fisher, the experience was “unforgettable,” (via TheThings). In a post on X, former journalist Natalie Abrams previously revealed that the first thing Fisher told Jones on meeting for the first time was “Dad.”
“James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher had never met until #BigBangTheory. Carrie’s first words to him? “Dad!” #SDCC,” Abrams posted following a press event at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con where the writers of the show revealed inside details of Fisher and Jones’ meeting.
The episode was an astounding hit as it was not just about the cameos from the two Star Wars legends but a grand stage for uniting them. We all owe thanks to Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady for creating this historic moment.
The Big Bang Theory is available to stream on Max.
