The Iron Man actor who gave an outstanding performance in the biopic deviated from his superman persona and delivered a magnificent portrayal of Straus. The actor was earlier nominated in the same category for Tropic Thunder (2009) and Chaplin in 1993.
Finally Robert Downey Jr Has An Academy Award to His Name
After a career spanning several decades and some really memorable performances, now Robert Downey Jr can proudly show the coveted award as he wins his first Academy Award.
He was up against Robert De Niro for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sterling K Brown for American Fiction, Ryan Gosling for Barbie and Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things.
After winning many awards including the Golden Globe, Bafta, and Screen Actors Guild awards, no doubt Downey Jr was a clear favorite to win this category.

Downey Jr thanked his “terrible childhood and the Academy, in that order” and his “veterinarian … sorry … wife, Susan Downey. She found me a snarling refuge pet and loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here.”
Downey Jr’s “little secret”, he said, was that “I needed this job more than it needed me … I stand here before you a better man because of it.”
Oppenheimer came to the night with 13 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor in a leading Role.
