John Cena did the unimaginable at the 2024 Oscars going almost n—ked to present the award for Best Costume Design. Host Jimmy Kimmel hinted at a piece of the history of the grand ceremony “what used to be the craziest moment” commemorating its 50th anniversary. Explaining the past event, Kimmel said (via ABC News):
“At the 46th Academy Awards, 1974, David Niven was in the middle of introducing Elizabeth Taylor when a n—de man — a streaker — ran across the stage. Can you imagine if a n—de man ran across the stage today?”
The reason for the actor going undraped on the stage was stunning at best as he agreed to pay tribute to the Oscars lore. “I said can you imagine if a n—de man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?” Kimmel added while Cena called the host poking his head from behind. “Pst, Jimmy. Come here,” The Peacemaker star whispered.
“I can’t come there, do the thing! Excuse me for a second. What’s going on, you’re supposed to run across the stage?” Kimmel told Cena. The actor later revealed that he had changed his mind as he didn’t feel right to go unclad at an elegant event.

The planners have pulled it off convincing Cena who is steadily rising to fame in Hollywood with his cinematic career. It was all intended to make the show funnier as the actor’s appearance invited wild laughter at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. “Dude, I don’t wrestle n—ked, I wrestle in jorts,” Cena told Kimmel as he initially refused to come down n—de on stage. But again, Kimmel convinced him.
“Costumes… they are so important. Maybe the most important thing there is. I can’t open the envelope,” Cena said while presenting the award.
