Appearing in The Kelly Clarkson Show for a chat, the actor said his in-ring retirement plans.
“You know what, 50 is my absolute line in the sand. I would like to try and do it before that, but at 50, I’m just gonna tweet out, ‘Peace out, see ya.’ That’s it, I’m good. I was very much driven where WWE was my passion 24/7 — and I’m very grateful — but I’ve grown and there’s a lot of other avenues I’m curious about in life, being a great husband and partner is one of those. I just want to try do what I can in those [years],” Cena said.
Cena is more focused on his career in Hollywood as an actor and he promised to be a good husband to his wife Shay Shariatzadeh.
John Cena Explained His Double Marriage To Shay Shariatzadeh
For John Cena, one wedding was not enough, the actor quipped after Clarkson’s remark as she joked, “One wasn’t enough.” You’re right, Cena agreed saying, “One wasn’t enough.” He went on to explain the actual reason behind his double marriage with Shay Shariatzadeh.
“We chose to get married during the pandemic. And that was because we wanted to share with each other our promise to spend our life together. And then we wanted to surround ourselves with those we love when the world opened up and gave us an opportunity to do that. So, yes, we were grateful enough to have two weddings, which means two anniversaries, which means another two days in the calendar where we can look in each other’s eyes and realize that we, we both made the right choice going forward for the rest of our lives.”
Cena is now committed to his marriage and would not risk it, however, he must remember two anniversaries. Cena was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau for almost three years until their split in 2012.
Cena recently appeared in Peter Farrelly-directed fantasy comedy Ricky Stanicky, currently showing in theaters.
