Like any other Marvel project, the hype surrounding Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along had made a decent splash among fans. But amid the astonishing buzz, the question of Elizabeth Olsen’s potential return also propels discussion considering the highly anticipated Marvel series for Disney Plus has established some connection with Olsen’s character. Marvel Studios has not clearly stated anything about Olsen’s character but the head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum recently shed some light on the perspective.

Marvel fans were led to believe that Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness at the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore. But there was never a closure and obviously, there is a lot from her character Marvel Studios can explore. Although her sacrifice to destroy the Darkhold seems to be a classic Avenger farewell— almost the same as Iron Man, Black Widow, and Steve Rogers— fans are still hopeful for Olsen’s return to the MCU. Agatha All Along creator and director Jac Schaeffer bluntly told CinemaBlend that he could not answer the question.

“Let me see how gracefully I can sidestep this . Yeah, I flat out can’t answer that question . … What I love about it is, you know, it speaks to (the fact) that the Witches’ Road is an enormous part of witch lore in what is the MCU witch world. That is accurate,” Schaeffer who also worked on Olsen’s Disney Plus show WandaVision said of the character.

Kathryn Hahn‘s Agatha All Along is deeply rooted in Marvel’s witch narrative and it would seemingly be safe to say that the series is an extension of WandaVision but inherently, it is all about Agatha. So, to answer the question, it is not entirely out of the ordinary for the studio to bring back the Scarlett Witch, at least for a cameo but only time will tell what the series has stored for fans.

Marvel’s television and animation boss Brad Winderbaum recently had a chat with CinemaBlend about Agatha All Along where Scarlet Witch’s return came up in the conversation. Instead of straightway denying her return, the Marvel executive producer has sparked some hope for fans. “I think that, without saying too much, I think that Agatha is a crucial chapter in the Wanda mythology,” Winderbaum told the website. “Okay. It’s an Agatha show. But if you’re a fan of Wanda, you’re going to enjoy this step down the road,” he added.

But it is too soon to be excited, Marvel Studios Executive Producer Mary Livanos also told the site that the upcoming series will be very much centered on Agatha and his comment has certainly drifted away from Wanda’s return. “What I can tell you is, I think I saw what everyone else saw after the Multiverse of Madness,” Livanos said.

“It seems like Wanda was very much taken off the table after her dealings with the Darkhold. So definitely, this show is all about Agatha and her history. So fans will be delighted to learn more about her.”

So, again, there is no confirmation which is quite normal in regards to Marvel’s tactic of keeping things a secret for huge surprises. But it is worth noting that, the studio has several other projects on their plate, so, bringing back Wanda might seem like too much work on their part. Regardless, Olsen’s run in the MCU as Scarlet Witch was fascinating. She debuted as a villain, became a hero, and then a villain again, and ultimately her tenure ended with a heroic sacrifice.

The first two episodes of Agatha All Along premieres on Disney Plus on September 18.
