Scarlett Johansson’s teaming up with Channing Tatum for Greg Berlanti’s rom-com Fly Me to the Moon has made a decent hype ahead of its release. The movie has carefully escaped the critical draught claiming a 69% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum’s romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon has made a decent Rotten Tomatoes debut. Albeit being far away from her highest-rated movie Lost in Translation, (it has a stunning 95% score to the Sofia Coppola-directed movie), Fly Me to the Moon Rotten Tomatoes score of 69% proves that the movie is a decent summer watch.

Based on Bill Kirstein and Keenan Flynn’s story that was penned by Rose Gilroy, Fly Me to the Moon is set against the “high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing,” the official synopsis reads. “Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins…”

Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Christian Zuber, Nick Dillenburg, Chad Crowe, Will Jacobs Melissa Litow, Lauren Revard, and Jesse Mueller are set to appear in the movie as well.

“A tonally uneven, overlong and meandering mess. Scarlett Johannson and Channing Tatum have barely any chemistry together.” — Avi Offer, NYC Movie Guru.

“Fly Me to the Moon is enjoyable… The characters are all fun, as long as they’re not getting too sincere.” — Jason Flatt, But Why Tho? A Geek Community.

“I Had fun with Fly Me to The Moon!” — Zach Pope.

“Timid when it should be withering as it attempts to appease everyone by cowering behind genre tropes when it matters most… The more I think about Fly Me to the Moon, the less I like it.” — Joonatan Itkonen, Toisto.net.

“Johansson is having a lot of fun as the playful, feisty Jones. For Tatum, this film is the next step in an ever-evolving career. Unfortunately, all the best parts of the film are undone by a story that defies logic or reality.” Karen M. Peterson, AwardsWatch.

“The romance and adventure of the actual Apollo 11 achievement are undermined for a smirking, tonally jarring non-laugh.” — Peter Bradshaw, Guardian.

“Fly Me To The Moon” is exhilarating, lovely, deeply enjoyable, and such a surprising treat.” — Rodrigo Perez, The Playlist.

Based on 49 reviews Fly Me to the Moon reserved a 69% score which is quite decent. The movie attempts a unique blend of comedy and historical fact squeezed to extract the laughing gas will be exciting to see if the audience would enjoy the film.

Fly Me to the Moon arrives in theaters on July 12, 2024.
