Prime Video’s hit show The Boys has captivated fans throughout its run. Showrunner Eric Kripke recently announced that the series will conclude with its fifth and final season, raising the ultimate question: what will happen to Homelander? Let’s explore the fate of the eccentric supe as depicted in the comics.

Spoiler Alert! Homelander dies. But who could kill him? So far in The Boys, the closest anyone came to killing the big bad was when his father Soldier Boy and Homelander’s archenemy Butcher teamed up to kill the uncontrollable supe. As the show progresses, Victoria Neuman, the secret supe with the power to burst heads, and Ryan, Homelander’s biological son, are strong contenders with seemingly enough power to kill the breast milk-obsessed villain. However, they are still far from unlocking the ability to tame Homelander.

In The Boys #65, Black Noir (2.0 in the series) shows his true self before Homelander, revealing that Black Noir is a clone of Homelander. Homelander once received a series of photographs of himself committing vicious crimes, which left him dazed and confused, driving him insane. He later went to the White House and killed the president.

Billy Butcher and Black Noir appear before Homelander as Noir reveals his true self: a spy for Vought to keep Homelander in check. In a twist of events, Homelander learns that Noir has been the criminal mastermind behind the atrocities Homelander was framed for, including the killing of Butcher’s wife, Becca.

Homelander and Black Noir engage in a brutal fight, which Noir wins by killing Homelander, only to die at Butcher’s hands shortly after.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has previously revealed that the mayhem surrounding the supes will eventually end with Homelander. While he hasn’t given away the details of how the big bad will be killed, he has hinted at Homelander’s demise.

Currently, Homelander is virtually indestructible. However, his insecurities are on the rise as he ages, brilliantly revealed by the show when he discovers his white pubic hair (which, bizarrely, he collects in a bottle). This has made him more violent than ever, and he’s on a rampage.

Played by Antony Starr, Homelander is a disoriented evil and the ultimate parody of DC’s iconic hero Superman. Starr has brought the character to life with his skillful performance. But how does the series end? Kripke previously told Metacritic that he wouldn’t be comfortable keeping Homelander alive in the show. “There’s no way the series ends without Homelander dying,” he told the outlet. “I’m just not comfortable with keeping that guy alive in the universe. We have to do something!”

The series creator also hinted at how Homelander might be killed, emphasizing that there are “ways to kill superheroes that are out in the world.” The Boys just have to find them. So, will he meet his end at the hands of The Boys? It is unclear, but with season 4 in progress, the end of the show seems near. Regardless, Homelander dies, and that’s how The Boys ends.
