Actress Emily Blunt recently opened up about her experiences filming kissing scenes with certain co-stars. While on-screen chemistry is crucial, Blunt revealed that not every intimate moment felt enjoyable.

While sharing her experiences on American radio host Howard Stern’s show, (Via PEOPLE) Stern asked Blunt if she ever felt like throwing up after kissing an actor. She responded with an emphatic “Absolutely, absolutely,” explaining that while it’s not necessarily “extreme loathing,” some experiences have been less than enjoyable.

“Absolutely, absolutely…I wouldn’t say it’s extreme loathing, but I’ve definitely not enjoyed some of it.”

Intriguingly, she emphasized the importance of finding redeeming qualities in her co-stars or their characters to navigate such situations. She expressed, “I think my feeling is I’ve got to find something I love about everybody. I have to find something – even if it’s one thing. It might be like they have a nice laugh or I like how they speak to people, they’re polite. I mean, it might be something random.”

But find something you love about that person or something you love about them as the character and then kind of lean into that.”

Blunt’s remarks on the chemistry between actors offered further insights into her approach to her craft. Despite her seasoned tenure in the industry, she acknowledged the ability to manufacture chemistry, stating, “I’ve been doing this long enough. I could have chemistry with this water bottle at this point. You know how to conjure it.”

However, she highlighted the significance of natural vibing, describing it as “easier” when it occurs organically. She explained, “But it’s just easier when you have a natural rapport with someone.”

Sometimes it’s a strange thing. Sometimes you could have a rapport that’s really effortless, but it doesn’t translate onscreen,” Blunt continued. “Chemistry is this strange thing. It’s an ethereal thing that you can’t really bottle up and buy or sell. It’s like there or it’s not.”

Blunt refused to name specific actors or scenes that made her feel queasy but noted that she has enjoyed working with some big names in the industry. She mentioned Dwayne Johnson, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, and Cillian Murphy as actors she has enjoyed working with, suggesting that there is indeed a list of co-stars with whom she has found easy chemistry.

But, Emily Blunt Did Enjoy Scenes with Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is definitely not among the actors Blunt did not enjoy the chemistry. Rather she has some good words to say about her Fall Guy co-star.

I love his wife, Eva. I love their children and I feel like I’m very lucky to be friends with a gem of a person like him,” she said of Gosling.

David Leitch, who directed The Fall Guy in an interview with CBR spoke about Gosling-Blunt chemistry.

Earlier this month, Anne Hathaway shared her story of how she had faced a particularly “gross” request to “make out” with as many as 10 people in a day for auditions.

In recent years, Blunt has starred alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Jungle Cruise, her husband, John Krasinski, in A Quiet Place, and Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer.
