The writers of HBO’s mega-hit show Game Of Thrones joined hands together to create the new astonishing piece of sci-fi that humanity has ever witnessed. Several Game of Thrones actors also starred in the show including John Bradley who played Samwell Tarly and Irish actor Liam Cunningham appeared in the HBO show as Davos Seaworth. Now, after his appearance in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, Cunningham made a huge comparison between the two grand shows where he played integral roles.
Liam Cunningham Compared Game Of Thrones to 3 Body Problem
HBO’s Game Of Thrones is one of the biggest and most successful series of the 21st century, there is no doubt about that. Based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series was designed to be unfilmable. “George R. R. Martin wrote Game of Thrones he specifically wrote it to be unfilmable,” Cunningham told Screen Rant Plus.
“So these two insane characters David and Dan went and visit him and said we like to film this and uh he was convinced by them. Uh, so, they didn’t rest on their Laurels it could have been very easy to loan a beach in Malibu after the success of Game of Thrones and they turned around and goes let’s do this to ourselves again, right? And they have, uh, you know adopted this incredible story. Um, and it’s just they have such a concern for their characters and the humanity of it, I mean this is a huge project but it’s nothing with their, you feeling some sort of emotion and sympathy for the people involved in it and that’s what they’re incredibly good at.”
Of course, these are two different narratives with fundamental goals of their own but they are the same creator who brought Liu Cixin’s book to life with astounding visuals.
But nothing is unfilmable, and these showrunners have proved it again with 3 Body Problem.
How 3 Body Problem Would Surprise Fan?
Rosalind Chao who played Ye Wenjie revealed that the show would surprise fans in many ways despite its being labeled and marketed as a sci-fi show. 3 Body Problem goes beyond the very traditional ways of sci-fi narratives and goes on to justify the gravity of it as the narrative orbits around human emotions, resolution, and the natural ways of responding to threats. Speaking with Screen Rant, the actor said, “I think what’s going to surprise people the most is the fact that it’s not just sci-fi.”
“You need to see all the episodes. But um, I cried. I gasped, I’ve read the script and yet honestly there was so many layers of, it’s historical, it’s a love story, it’s like a indie movie, it’s like, uh, you know. There’s just so much to it. And I think that’s going to catch people by surprise cuz they think they’re just going to see I don’t know ET or something and it’s so not that these guys are so brave and they made all of us Brave don’t you think I mean I feel like I’m a different person after working with them truly, yeah”
Indeed, one must be ready to be surprised before watching the show. 3 Body Problems exceeded all the expectations, at least fans and critics would agree to that.
