Amazon’s Prime Videos has released the fifth episode of Invincible second season after a prolonged delay following the release of its fourth episode. While it has caused a huge tension among fans, Invincible showrunner Robert Kirkman revealed that he is rather excited about season 6 of the hit show. Notably, Amazon Studios has greenlit for the show’s season 3.

It’s a long way toward season 6 of Invincible but Robert Kirkman is quite excited about the potential extension. As of yet, before the completion of season 2, the show is renewed for the third season. Speaking with Collider Kirkman revealed that Invincible has been one of the few projects that makes him enthusiastic every time. Perhaps, that is the primary reason he intends to go with as many renewals as possible. “Let’s talk about Season 6,” Kirkman said when asked about what’s beyond season 3.

“So, I’m writing every season with everybody. I’m working on every season with it in mind that we’re gonna go for as long as we need to go to fully adapt the comics because I want, if we are lucky enough and fortunate enough to be able to do that, for it all to be seamless. And so when we were writing Season 1, I was like, ‘Okay, well, that’s gonna lead to this. That’ll happen in Season 3, and this will happen in Season 4, and then if we do it that way, that can happen in Season 5 and Season 6.’”

The creator added,

“I’ve got a rough road map for the whole thing from the beginning. So, that hasn’t really changed. We don’t have anything to announce yet for anything past Season 3, but we’re very hopeful that we’ll get to go for a good long while. I mean, I’m thinking like 100 seasons.”

Well, 100 seasons is beyond the realm of possibility but being one of the creators of the comic book series, he might be able to push the show to a remarkable height.

While writing the first season of Invincible, Kirkman was not so sure how the season would end. “I’m irresponsible,” Kirkman told Collider. “So when we were wrapping up the first season, you never know how a show is gonna do,” he added.

“And so there was a lot of talk of like, ‘Well, we need to make sure that we have some level of finality in the Season 1 finale just in case we don’t have a second season.’ And I was like, ‘If we don’t get a second season, I don’t care. I’ll leave it on a cliffhanger,’ like, ‘Okay, sorry? We didn’t get a second season.’ I’ll leave it hanging. And I think that’s the way to go because I feel like if you give it this level of finality then you have to undo that when you get into the second season. I don’t agree with that method whatsoever, which I guess is, ‘Try to do something nice for the people that are watching it,’ but I don’t believe in that.”

Thankfully, the show panned out, and the casting and characters have integrated into a fan-favorite narrative. While the showrunners were slammed for the delay of the second part of the second season, Kirkman explained that it was due to an issue that happened during the production process. Regardless, the show has resumed and Prime Video has dropped the latest episode that has gained positive reactions from the critics.
